The Halloween party

The day had come when the Halloween party was going to take place. We were planning to meet up somewhere at the party place. Apparently he had been there once or twice before.
"What did you decide to be today?"
"That's a secret," he replied seconds after. So he doesn't want to tell me even though he knows mine? That's not fair... but I hope he has a good reason for it. I remembered his reaction from that day. He must have planned something. I just know it.

I went to a big house with a big garden and I immediately understood why this place was chosen for the party. The house looked old too. Or at least scary after all the work that was put into it. As soon as I stepped my foot inside I was met with so many different costumes and painted faces. It took so long to recognize who they were.
"Hey. Sally is here!" Someone yelled out after seeing my outfit. And they all applauded before they went back to chatting again. Did they do that with everyone or just me? Because I wasn't coming early enough? Was it the outfit?
A vampire was playing guitar making a show of himself when a bed sheet ghost came up to me.
I just stared wondering who it was.
"You're _____ in Sally's costume right?"
"Yes?" But who was this guy?
"Good. Follow me."  "'Because I am not the one' you want to meet" he partly sang and laughed at the end, probably because it sounded funny. And I recognized that sentence from the movie.
Soon I saw a pumpkin head standing there and of course the ghost showed me the way there.
I stared at him too. So who is this then?
At first he didn't say anything, just lay a hand out in the air. Soon a flower bloomed from it and I knew it was him. I smiled satisfied. And he laughed and took off his pumpkin head. Underneath was the skeleton painted face.
"So this is your reason for keeping your costume secret?"
"Hehe. What do you think?"
"It's good. I barely recognized you."
"Aha. Actually. Hadn't I known which one you chose then I wouldn't have recognized you either."
"So it looks that good? I wasn't sure if I did a good enough job with the makeup or not since it's not often I use it."
"You look great. Trust me, the pumpkin king."
"Haha! Of course I'm trusting you. Sally kind of has to anyway." It was as if he had stopped in his tracks for a moment. Did I say something wrong?
I turned to look at the show that some people made. Now there was a guitar playing vampire and a singing ghost there on a stage made of tables. Zombies dancing or moving around on the floor in front of them. One ugly dentist with lots of fake gigantic needles waving around his or her stuff in the air. Was it girl or boy inside? I saw some witches standing there chatting calmly, laughing to themselves and pointing to the show. And a female and male troll. The trolls started rocking their heads as the music got more dramatic. There was some misplaced outfits too. Or at least not so scary, like a catterpillar that became a butterfly and a very cute and innocent cat costume. Or the one in a bunny costume that I realized actually was a boy that was having fun with poking on many people.
I think there's more people here than my class alone. Maybe 50 people.
More vampires came in from another room too. That must be the kitchen because they had juice and soda in glasses in their hands pretending it was blood.

"I'm thirsty too" I said and pointed at the vampires.
"Me too. Let's go into the kitchen."
