Loneliness

The lunchtime was there and I sat by myself this time. For some reason, after the popular guy sat down to eat with him, others followed him and sat down there too making a prolonged desk row at the back of the classroom. They were chatting away and eating. Smiling carefree. Laughing loudly.

The first day I was laughing with them even though I still sat alone. It was so good to see him being happy and social, becoming more and more his free self.
But as this lasted for weeks I began to feel lonely and kept my distance. He didn't seem to notice me at all. So I just left alone in silence earlier than usual. As early as possible.
Sometimes I wondered if I should just join them. But they didn't seem to care or notice any of them.
