Amber

Loose-leaf pamphlets,

Floating through the door,

Settling on the amber ground,

For evermore.

In haunted seasons,

Of a many winters gone past,

Each more difficult than the last.

We were like leaves,

Drifting aimlessly in the wind.

Weaving away from darkening skies,

We were lost.

And simply escaping from Erebus,

Was enough purpose for us.

In the fleeting moments of Hebe,

Embers flying in autumnal wind,

Swimming along rivers of time,

I was making decisions I couldn't rescind.

And I've been meaning to ask you,

Would you accept me for who I was?

There some things that even you don't about me.

You've criticized what I place my faith in,

And that must be why.

I've been weaving a web of lies,

Too many stories you could chastise,

Yet I ask you to please see it from my eyes.

Even though I know you won't take it well,

It's still better to be freed from this guise.

There'll be consequences,

And I hope it won't be my demise,

But I've crossed my heart and hoped to die.

But before I go,

I ask you to always remember me in a positive light,

With purple-pink skies.

Yet, all who dream, must awaken,

And so I'll just fly away,

Walking the edge of the horizon,

Illuminated by the amber rays of the dying sun.
