And not in that foreboding alleyway of life.
That period of my life was filled with strife,
And I wasn't always at my best.
I am a phoenix,
I've died a thousand times,
From my self applied crimes.
But each time,
My masts snap in the gale,
And each time,
I fail.
Yet I'm always trying,
But I'd be lying,
If I said I've already done enough.
But if you decide that it's time to go,
And leave me here alone,
I'll sing in the prairies,
Right where you left me.
And I'll survive the incoming tsunami,
At peace in this field of poppies.
