chapter six | big time skate
James stood in the middle of his apartment, checking through the hockey equipment he had packed in his duffle bag. The boys had a day off from recording and everyone had decided to go their separate ways: Kendall had gone to spend the day with Jo, Logan had gone with Camille to the movies, and Carlos had decided to go off to spend the day in the park. James had originally thought of heading to the pool for the day, but ended up changing his mind and decided to head to the ice rink after realizing that he hadn't been down there in awhile.
As he zipped up his bag, the door to the apartment opened and a familiar blonde walked in.
"Hey, James." Rosalie greeted, closing the door behind her. She walked towards him and glanced down at the bag before looking up at him in his hockey jersey. She raised an eyebrow, "Heading to the ice rink?"
"Yeah. Gustavo gave us the day off and I've decided to spend it on the ice." James explained, throwing the bag over his shoulder. He noticed the blonde dressed up slightly in a long-sleeved blue top with white jeans and a pair of white heeled ankle boots. Her blonde hair was straightened and she seemed to have on more makeup than usual. "Where are you going?"
Rosalie shook her head, "I was supposed to have an interview for Juliette Star, but it got cancelled last minute. So now I'm heading around the Palm Woods to bless everyone with my presence."
James let out a laugh at her sarcastic comment.
The blonde walked over to James' hockey stick and grabbed it as she moved to position it on the ground. Rosalie pretended to swing as she hit a puck before looking over to James who was watching her. She raised an eyebrow, "How do you even play hockey? I've watched you four play it so many times but I don't think I ever picked up the game."
"Really?" James questioned, Rosalie nodding. Walking over to the blonde, James began to explain the game as he knew it, "Okay, well there are six positions. The goalie whose job it is to prevent the hockey puck from entering their net; the left and right defense players who need to stop the opposing forwards; there's the forward centre and I've lost you haven't you?"
Rosalie, who was watching him explain in complete confusion, nodded slowly. She smiled apologetically, "You had me until you started on the defense players and forwards."
"Okay, it might be better for me to show you. Let's head to the ice rink."

The duo had made their way to the ice rink and had gotten themselves skates. It was when they entered the building that Rosalie had noticed that there was no one else in the building except for the two of them and the person managing the skates in the front. Rosalie glanced over to James who was holding his duffle bag and both of their skates in his arms.
"Did you rent out the entire ice rink?" Rosalie asked. James laughed nervously, shaking his head, "What? No. Why would you-why would you think that. Maybe."
Shaking her head in amusement, Rosalie reached for his arm and started pulling James to the benches that littered the outside perimeter of the ice rink.
Rosalie was the first to put her skates on and had made her way into the ice rink by the time that James had put on his skates. He entered the rink and stood by the entrance as he watched the blonde skate flawlessly around the rink. Rosalie seemed to be in her own mind as she made simple laps around the ring before making her way towards the center.
Her eyes closed as she started to spin in circles.
