It Couldn't Get Any Stranger

The Explanation.

"Well, I'm not quite sure you would understand." You told Lucas and Max.

"Hey I'm pretty sure we would, you have no idea what we've been through" Lucas says.

"Alright, well I don't know where to begin." You take a deep breath and start telling them your life story.

"I was born in Hawkins laboratory, I lived there for all my life until.. this is going to sound crazy bu-"

"Eleven" Max and Lucas finish your sentence.

"What how did you kn-"

"Just tell us your story, we'll tell you in a minute" Max interrupted.

"Okay, so Eleven opened up this gate to this alternative reality that the scientists called 'the upside down' but it was basically a dark echo of the world. Well anyways, when Eleven opened the gate, all hell broke loose and a monster escaped. I was standing in the area where El opened it and I was sucked into this reality. I found a little hut called Castle Byers where I slept for that night. The next day I met a boy named Will. I thought we were going to get out of there. But while I was gathering some food, well, baby monsters to roast on the fire. Will called them demogorgans and the name sort of stuck. When I came back Will wasn't there. The demogorgan took him. I'm sorry, I know he was your friend, he talked about Lucas, Dustin and Mike. I'm guessing you are the Lucas he was talking about. It's a shame Will is dead. He was such a nice person"

You look down at your feet.

"Ermm y/n, Will isn't dead." Max says.

You look confused.

"Yeah his mum came and got him from the upside down. He now lives in California with his mum and his brother and El." Lucas says.

"Why with El?" You ask.

"Well, it's quite a long story, but I'll tell you it." Max says.

She tells you the whole story of what happened with the mindflayer, the demodogs and the demogorgan.

"Wow, you've been through some strange shit"You say.

Max just laughs. "Oh y/n, you have seen stranger"

You smile, you like Max and Lucas, they seem kind.

"I am going to take you back to mine, I'll clean you up and get you some clothes. Lucas, you can bike home" Max says firmly.

Lucas holds his hands up for a salute and says in a deep voice.

"You're the boss."

Max just rolls her eyes and laughs.

Max quizzes you with questions as you walk along, half of them you don't understand so you change the subject and ask about Max's house.

It's a small bungalow on Old Cherry Road. She used to live there with her brother. He died at the battle of starcourt. Max already told you that. Her parents lived there too but they were on a 'work holiday' but that just meant having meetings and sipping cocktails in some place warmer than here.

You've been here before in the upside down.

Max unlocks the door and you both walk in.
