It Couldn't Get Any Stranger

At the Junkyard

That night you can't sleep.

Instead you keep replaying the same scene in your head. El's eyes. Was she gone forever now? Would anyone believe you if you told them?

You decide to walk over to the radio and decide to tell Mike since El and Will were staying at his house, also Mike was the only one likely to be awake.

"Mike, do you copy?"

"Y/n not again, IT IS ONE IN THE MORNING, do you even sleep like a normal person?"

"Nope, but this is urgent, meet at the junk yard tomorrow at 12, Just you and me. You can bring Will if you want but not El. Trust me with this"

"Ughh fine, if it stops you radioing at this time"

"See ya, over and out"

You switch off the radio and crawl back to bed.

You felt a little bit better.

You wake up at 10am, Max had gone out with Lucas on a 'celebratory date' so she had left you a note.

You decide to leave a note next to Max's

Just gone to junkyard for 12, you can come if you get back in time but I doubt it. Hope you had fun.

You get on Max's bike and rush to the Junkyard. Truthfully you hadn't ever ridden a bike before but it was simple and you only fell off once at the start of the journey.

When you arrive you are early you see Mike and Will, they were early too.

"Hey y/n!" Mike waves you over.

Will waves too but looks impatient.

You throw Max's bike down, (maybe a little too carelessly) and wipe your hands on your trousers as you run over to them.

"Y/n. What was so urgent you had to radio at 1am." Mike says irritated.

"It is about El." You say

"What do you mean?" Will pipes in.

"Alright, when she was closing the gate, I saw something in her eyes that I only saw in Billy and you when you faded to the upside down." You say to Will.

"So you think she's flayed all because of a hunch? She could've just been determined. Or something" Mike says quick to defend El.

"Well, if she was actually a danger to the upside down when she closed the gate, don't you think something would've tried to stop her." You say, luckily, you could tell that Will understood.

"She's right" Will says, "Remember, we have to assume the worst"

"But.." Mike begins.

Everyone was thinking the same thing.

"The upside down finally has Eleven's power" Will says, "And we all know who they're coming for next"

The boys stare at you.

"Now come on, if it wanted me it would've taken me when I was in the upside down." You say, partly just to reassure yourself.

"Yeah but what if it wasn't strong enough til now" Will says.

You try to talk but no words come out. You were nervous now.

"Okay, we need to make a plan to stop El from killing us all and finding out she is really flayed" Mike says.

"Sauna test?" Will asks.

You weren't dumb, you knew what they meant. The upside down was cold and most things from there would die in the heat.

"Yeah but how are we gonna get her in there?" Mike says.

"That'll be easy. She trusts us. She doesn't know that we know so we should be fine" You say.

"Tomorrow, we do this for real." Will says.

Just as you were about to leave, Mike says "Are we gonna tell Max, Lucas and Dustin?"

"Do you want to?" You ask.

"Yeah, but Max will never believe us" Mike says.

"Just tell them you want to test me. Then at the last minute throw El in the sauna." You reply.

"That's actually a good plan" Will says.

"Why thank you." You reply.

You all bike off into the distance in a very cinematic way.
