It Couldn't Get Any Stranger

The Plan.

Whilst he scoffs his food down his throat, Dustin begins,

"Well, it's been really nice seeing you all but you said it was quite important and it had something to do with a danger ." he leans in and whispers, " from the upside down" he then falls back in his chair and points to you, "it's not like y/n is dangerous" he laughs but realises that might offend you so he says "like not to us"

Max sighs but not in frustration; in fear.

Everyone stares at her.

"Well," she says nervously, her leg shaking, "I don't know what to say, you guys read this," she gulps clearly trying not to cry.

You felt bad for her and placed your hand on her arm to reassure her.

She smiles again and the tears disappear from her eyes.

The boys didn't notice her crying though, they noticed the letter, more specifically..

"Mini monsters" Mike says.

"Well that's clearly demo-dogs isn't it!" Lucas exclaims.

Dustin smiles.

"Dustin, why are you smiling? It's very serious" Lucas says and pokes the letter adding emphasis to his point.

Dustin tries to cover his smirk.

"Sorry, it's just that you used my word, last time I said it you were like," he impersonates Lucas's voice, "Shut up Dustin, we don't need to talk about that right now"

"We were literally putting one in the fridge! It was heavy and I needed to focus!" Lucas argues.

"Wait you put it in Joyce's fridge?" Max stifles a giggle, her mood completely changed, you wondered if you could heal emotional pain as well as physical.

"Guys, seriously, we need to think about El now, if it's still alive and after her and she doesn't know.." Mike says, "She's in deep shit.."

You just stand there, it probably wasn't a good idea to get into the conversation but Max notices you standing there awkwardly.

"Well, if it's after El's power, is there any reason it wouldn't go after y/n or what's her name.. Kali?" She says.

Lucas and Dustin finally give up on the 'stare at each other until the other one gives up' thing and join in the conversation.

"We must assume the worst, shall I tell Steve?" Dustin says.

"No, we can handle this, it's not like Steve ever did anything to help us" Mike says, "but we might have to tell Will's mum."

Dustin begins "Woah, Steve helped us when we were in the tunnels re-"

"Why do you always think to tell Steve" Lucas cuts him off.

Dustin just shrugs.

"What do you think y/n?" Max asks.

"I think we should definitely alert the Byers, but I think we are in more danger right now since we know about it and the gate is near" you say.

"What gate?" Mike asks.

"The one at the Russian Base.. Did you even listen to what I said?" You frown at him.

Mike says, "Sorry, I guess I forgot but that doesn't matter, we need to close the gate, but how, we need El"

"I'm not sure but maybe they have some shit at the laboratory, ya know, it's easy to break into I imagine." Dustin says then slurps his drink.

"Y/n? You are from the lab." Mike says.

'No shit' you think.

"Do you know if there is anything there?" Mike finishes.

"I think that there will be, if there isn't we could always try burning it with flame-throwers." You say.

"Well, I say tomorrow we go there, we could easily cut through the fence, I have some pliers at home." Lucas says.

"Alright! Let's do it, see you all!" Max says before grabbing your hand and dragging you out the McDonalds.

You wave and the others smile back at you.
