It Couldn't Get Any Stranger

Flayed..

"Hey guys, press that button over there" Dustin says.

Mike presses it.

Suddenly the machine in front of the gate whirred to life.

"Nope, nope, turn it offf!" Max says as a beam of energy shoots from the light cannon machine and onto the gate.

It squealed and the gate looked like it was trying to open more.

You shove Dustin and press the button again so it powers down.

Everyone stares at Dustin annoyed.

"What? How was I supposed to know?" He says.

Everyones attention is diverted to the massive creature emerging from the gate.

It wasn't the mindflayer, or demogorgan.

It was bigger.

It was like a massive mutated version of the demogorgan. What had the Russians created?

It looked hungry.

"Holyyyy shit!!!!!" You say.

You and Eleven couldn't take that on by yourselves.

You all run from the glass box and walk towards it.

You aren't sure whether it was smart to go near it or not.

It splayed its mouth out and roared. There was no other way to say it.

Saliva went everywhere, you remember when the demogorgan was near you in the lab 2 days ago.

Eleven forces it backward but it is hardly affected.

It roars again and picks up Eleven.

She is flung backwards and she hits the wall.

The boys try and burn it as you run over to El.

She has a massive bruise on the side of her face and left arm.

You place your hand on her arm and will it to heal. It's hard to heal but you do and she feels great, you also gave her some happiness which releases adrenaline. She rocketed off ready to take down demogorgan shit

"Thanks y/n"

You feel slightly drained and you stumble up.

El looks back at you but focuses on tearing that stupid monster apart.

Max and the boys burnt it's feet and it squealed in pain.

It hurt your ears.

It suddenly flopped down to the floor.

It must've been tired.

You all had killed the massive demogorgan, somehow it felt like they had killed it too quickly and there was still more to face but there wasn't.

You sigh and walk over to El to congratulate her when you see a wisp of black air escape from the demogorgan as it takes its final few breaths.

"Guys look" you yell.

The black substance traveled around the air, looking for a home.

Everyone stares and Will yells.

"That's the thing that escaped me when I was flayed, it's the same stuff that billy had in him, cover your mouth and nose, don't let it in"

He brings everyone into a compact circle and you cover your mouth and nose.

You could feel the substance try and get in. It prodded and poked at yours and the others faces.

You felt dizzy for holding your breath for so long.

Suddenly the poking feeling stops. You suck in the cool air.

"Did anyone let it in?" Mike asks.

"Nope" you say once you had caught your breath.

Everyone shakes their heads.

El sets about closing the gate. It is eerily quiet and no monsters oppose you.

El looked tired though. There was something behind her eyes you had never seen before.

Soon you all go back to the bikes and cycle home.

All you could think of was the look El gave you. It was the look you had actually seen before. It was the look Billy had when he was in the upside down.

El was flayed.
