What makes a good person good?Good people are polite. They show respect and mind their manners. It's not to be a showoff or to seem better; they just truly respect individuals and want to treat them how they want to be treated. You don't have to be formal or walk on eggshells to be polite.
Ophelia had grown up hearing this a lot. She considered herself a good person but behind closed doors was definitely a different story. This is that story of a girl who is tired of being good for a little while.
"Ma'am your parents have requested that you meet them for dinner tonight"
Comfortable in bed Ophelia opened one of her light brown eyes and looked in the doorway of her room at Kelsey the house maid.
"What time would they like to meet up for dinner? And where is the fancy restaurant this time?" Ophelia mumbled in a sleepy mood. Moving across the country is surprisingly stressful especially when you are really the only one actually moving. Her parents decided to just casually mention that they had already bought a house in los angles and were just waiting for her to come meet them.
Flipping onto her back and sitting up Ophelia threw her feet to the side of the bed and put her feet into the beautiful silk slippers waiting there for her.
"They said to be there at exactly 8:30 pm and they told me a restaurant called Applebee's would be perfect tonight for a family dinner miss" Ophelia huffed and rolled her eyes. She knew that something was going to happen tonight. We just moved here and they were probably already going away on a 'Business trip'.
"What time is it now Kelsey? Can you have security bring my motorcycle to the front so I can leave here quickly ?"
Standing up quickly Ophelia headed toward the huge walk in closet to pick out her outfit tonight. Maybe black boots, ripped tight jeans and a sheer see though too will make a good impression tonight especially since it's the first night out in a new city.
"6pm and the motorcycle is already out front and waiting on you miss Halifax"
Nodding at Kelsey to dismiss her Ophelia went to put makeup on while blasting some sort of the newest pop music. Hopefully life is gonna be better here then in New York. Ophelia thought that maybe this would be a new start. She didn't wanna come off as a rich brat when in reality she had a very lonely life growing up. She was bullied because she didn't look like a super model so she decided to turn herself into a badass. It worked for awhile till she met a guy who changed her life. She thought he was the one but in reality he was just using her for her money. Maybe this move would be a good thing. At least that's what she was hoping for. She wants friends and a semi normal life.
8:15 seemed to have come like the snap of your fingers. One minute she's dancing and curling her long red hair then the next she is putting it in a hair tie to put on her helmet.
"Ma'am your forgetting your purse" Kelseys voice ring out from behind her, Ophelia smiled and sped up the steps.
"Thank you Kelsey cause without you I wouldn't have grown up to be this fashionable" laughing erupted between them cause deep down Ophelia try's to put on a tough girl act. Kelsey has watched Ophelia grow up since she was 2 years old and if she wasn't working for her parents then her and Ophelia possibly wouldn't of known each other and gotten to be friends.
"Alright well I'm off. I have 15 minutes to get to the restaurant so I'll see you later"
Ophelia smiled and threw on her helmet, straddling the seat she leaned forward and flew off down the driveway to finally go see her parents.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••"Darling! Oh I have missed you so much! George look how much she has grown." Rebecca exclaimed while hugging her only daughter. Ophelia smiled brightly loving the attention her mother was showing her since she didn't get it often. "Mom and Daddy! I missed you guys so much. How have you guys been? Have you seen the house yet? It's absolutely beautiful"
The entire Halifax family caught up with each other outside of Applebee's for an hour before actually deciding that they were hungry.
Once they had all been seated at a booth they started the serious conversation that Ophelia would knew would happen tonight.
"So we actually have some exciting news" stated George quietly while his blue eyes made eye contact with his wife's and then his daughters. Rebecca's smile grew wider while Ophelia's just grew smaller thinking the worsts was about to happen.
"We wanted you to be the first to know that your father and I are going on a 4 month long work trip but once that done then we will be home for awhile because we think you could use some family bonding time especially since your mother is expecting.."
Being at a loss for words was something Ophelia never was but for some odd reason she couldn't think of anything to say. She thought they were getting a divorce or going away for a entire year but she definitely didn't think her parents would be making the family bigger. But then again maybe that was the reason for the sudden move across the country.
"That's awesome mom really like I'm excited for this whole new experience I guess" Ophelia was wondering if this was real for a day dream. Her parents never ever acted this happy and genuine around her.
"Believe it or not kiddo we love you so much. We are so sorry for not being there when you needed us but we are here now and we want to be the perfect family again. Our plane is leaving in a hour so we have to get to the airport but we will call you when we land alright?" Rebecca and George Halifax kissed their daughters head and quickly left Ophelia sitting in a booth all alone, lost in her own thought about this new life she had when she noticed someone sat down in front of her. Looking up she met the eyes of a boy maybe 17 in age with a blue mow hawk and beautiful blue eyes. Curiously she took her straw out of her mouth and smirked.
"Can I help you with something or do you normally just sit down at a table that's already occupied?"
He smirked back at the red haired girl and leaned forward a little bit so the girl could hear him over his friends who were being loud at the next booth over. " Actually I saw a pretty girl sitting alone so I thought you could use time company. What's your name? You can call me hawk. My friends and I just won the all valley karate tournament to tonight"
"My names Ophelia Halifax and I just moved here yesterday. I used to do karate when I lived in Japan for 2 years. Definitely one of my favorite sports"
Ophelia and Hawk talked for probably about 2 hours. For some odd reason they had just clicked and it just went on from there.
"Do you mind if I could get your number?" Ophelia raised her eyebrows surprised at the question but smiled brightly nonetheless. Grabbing a pen from her purse she took hawks hand in hers and pulled his arm towards her quickly writing her number on his arm then standing up. "Unfortunately that's my cue to head home but thank you for tonight hawk I really enjoyed talking you" leaning down she took his face in her hands and smirked while looking into his eyes, after a second she leaned down and pressed a kiss onto his cheek leaving a bright red kiss mark on his face. After standing up and giggled at the look on his face before turning around and leaving but not before swaying her hips a little and looking over her shoulder giving him a little wink before disappearing behind the Applebee's door.•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
