Note- I changed the time the prologue was set in from 15 years ago to 3 years ago, because it just made more sense for the story.
Present Day
Beep, Beep, Beep!
"Agh!"
Ollie threw his hand over to his nightstand frantically trying to turn off his alarm clock to stop the ear-bleeding noise the machine was blasting.
It was Monday. The worst day of the week. This wasn't just Ollie's opinion. It was a fact. Monday's sucked. At least tomorrow is my birthday.
Instead of getting up, like he probably should have, Ollie slowly closed his eyes. He felt his eyelids getting heavier and heavier. 'I should get up... but I don't wanna' Ollie fought with himself.
"Ollie, come on!" a voice screamed from somewhere in the distance.
Ollie, startled, jumped up out of his bed. He turned towards his nightstand: 6:30. The bus came in ten minutes. 'Oh, no. I fell asleep' Some people may be fine with the amount of time, but personally, Ollie liked to have plenty of time to get ready.
Ollie quickly threw open his closet and grabbed a random shirt and pair of pants. He grabbed his backpack and sprinted down the stairs. He could simply feel that it wasn't going to be a good day.
"What took so long? Usually your down here 20 minutes earlier. You don't have any time to eat." Ollie's mom scolded him.
"Sorry, mom. I fell back to sleep.," Ollie said in an urgent voice. He hoped his mother made him breakfast, or else it really was going to be a bad day. He knew his mother wasn't really that mad.
"Ugh, Just take this and go. I don't want to drive you and be late for work." Ollie's mom said, still slightly frustrated.
"Ok, Ok," Ollie responded, knowing he needed to leave as soon as possible.
Ollie's mom shoved a banana and waffle slathered with peanut butter, his favorite breakfast. At least he could rely on someone. Ollie's dad left when he was two; he didn't really have any friends.
Ollie dashed out of the door down the street to the bus stop. Luckily for him, he didn't have to walk far. Halfway down his street, he saw the bus pull up. He quickened his pace. The driver must have noticed him because she waited a few seconds for him.
Ollie got on the bus and sat in his seat since the beginning of the year: 14. It was a regular Monday. Nothing cool was happening this week that Ollie could think of. The bus quiet as usual in the morning, everyone still half asleep. Ollie put on his headphones and spaced out.
Ollie was a pretty typical boy. He had brown curly hair, longer on top than the sides and back, green eyes, and olive skin. There was no doubt he was built to run, his body frame lean and tall with ost of his muscles in his legs. He had a B grade average and played basketball and track.
On the outside, his life looked great, but really it was far from it. His mom had to work three jobs, so she and Ollie could live in their house and still manage to do fun things when they wanted to. Ollie didn't have any friends or siblings, so he was pretty lonely.
The bus slowly rolled to a stop in front of Ollie's school and all the students filed out of the bus. The bus got to school early, so Ollie had to wait around for about 15 minutes till the bell rang.
The rest of the morning went by as normal and boring as usual. 1st period: Geometry, 2nd: English, 3rd: World History. The same schedule every day. Next up was lunch. 'Ugh. Lunch'
