————The next week that followed after the party was exhausting. Because the All Valley was a week away Johnny trained us extra hard and made us stay in the dojo a lot longer than usual. But, on the bright side, I had gotten more fit than I was before. I had a slight stomach before but from all the working out it was slowly becoming a little more toned.
Miguel was also being extra aggressive, even after the extra hours he'd stay and punch the punching bag for I don't know how long. I had never seen him like that but it was refreshing to see that he could look intimidating.
But today was finally the day of the tournament. I couldn't tell if I was anxious or really excited to fight people, all I knew was that I couldn't stand still as we waited outside the building. Johnny still hadn't arrived, any longer and we'd have to sign up without him.
"Yo Miguel calm down man. Save some for the tournament." As Hawk spoke it snapped me out of my thoughts and I looked over at Miguel. He was punching the air with a look in his eyes. He looked over at Hawk, not saying anything and just going back to doing what he was doing before. I rolled my eyes.
"Don't even bother, he's been super agro ever since the breakup." Aisha said, I nodded, good to know I wasn't the only one who noticed that.
"He's just warming up leave him to it." I added in, Hawk looked over at me. I smiled and grabbed his hand, I knew he was worried about Miguel but didn't want to show it. He softly smiled at me.
"Where's Sensei? The tournament's gonna start soon." He asked. "He'll be here." Aisha reassured us.
"I don't know about that." Burt said nervously, making me look at him confused. "What are you talking about?" I asked, what did he know.
"I saw him last night at the mini-mall. I was buying.. a carton of milk when I heard him in the parking lot yelling. He was drunk and pissing on his car and yelling shit about how were all gonna die." I snorted slightly as I saw the image in my head.
"Well why didn't you tell us this earlier?" Aisha asked him, annoyed.
"I don't know. I guess I'm just used to seeing him drunk, it didn't seem like that big of a deal." I rolled my eyes.
"It was the night before the tournament of course it's a big deal." I said, crossing my arms and narrowing my eyes at him.
"Yeah, we're here and he's not so it's officially a big deal." Hawk said, looking at Burt angrily. Burt gulped when he saw the both of us glaring at him.
"What if something happened to him?"
"Like what?"
"Like he drove his car off a cliff or bought a gun and blew his brains out?" Or got arrested, or somehow he ended up in Mexico.
"No, Sensei would never kill himself. It's too pussy a move." I nodded, "That's true."
Hawk shrugged, "Whatever. I mean, we're here. We're gonna have to do this without him." I smiled at Hawk, I knew that he was excited to show off, especially to his Sensei. He really looked up to Johnny.
"Do what without me?" My eyes widened in surprise when we all turned around and saw Johnny standing there. Oh he's definitely hung over.
I smiled a little, glad that he was here, "Sensei."
"We didn't think you were gonna show up." I snorted softly, "Yeah we heard you were pissing on your car last night." I added in, snickering and seeing him slightly glare at me.
"I may not always win, but I never back out of a fight." Johnny said, standing in the middle of all of us. "All right, let's sign up." Miguel said a little impatiently.
