————I sighed softly in slight annoyance as my mother dropped me off at the LaRusso's house. She said she didn't want me to go to school alone on the first day back, I had been away for a few months. I hunched as I waited for someone to answer the door, picking at the black nail polish on my nails, looking up when the door opened.
I was greeted with none other than Danial LaRusso, "Hey Selena how've you been? It's great to see you again." I stepped in, walking past him.
"I'd be better if I could just skateboard to school." I mumbled, sitting down on the couch and waiting. It was still quite early so I was pretty tired.
"Uh.. well Vanessa it was good to see you." Daniel said, smiling at my mom, she smiled back and waved goodbye to me before leaving. I yawned, resting my chin on my hand and looking down at my shoes. My large, heavy, platform boots. I liked them, I liked how I towered over quite a few people .
"There's pancakes in the kitchen if you're hungry, Sam will be down in just a minute then she can drive you to school." I nodded, not bothering to get up since I wasn't hungry, my meds took my appetite away.
"By the way Selena, it's good to have you back we missed having you around." I chuckled softly, giving him my crooked smile and returning to my blank expression when he left.
I heard footsteps so I turned my head, seeing Sam, she sent me a smile and I tried to return it. "You ready to go?" I asked, standing up and looking down at her, I completely towered over her with my platforms, making me hold back a smirk. It felt nice, I was used to being the short person.
"Yeah sure, I'm not really hungry anyways. Come on let's go, I'm gonna pick up one of my friends Yasmine too hope that's ok." I nodded, already heading out the door. I didn't care who she picked up as long as they weren't rude or annoying.
"By the way love the platforms." I smiled slightly. "Thanks, it's nice to be the one looking down on others for once." I said as I got into the back seat of her car, pulling out my phone and earbuds. I just listened to music so that she wouldn't talk to me. I've known Sam for almost as long as I can remember but we never got super close. We just don't really work as friends, we can hang out for a bit before it gets awkward.
I stayed silent the entire drive, ignoring the snarky comment Sam's friend 'Yasmine' said to me. She was a total blonde spoiled bitch. I wished I could push her out of the car while it was still moving but I don't think that'd be ok. I smirked slightly as I was left to just imagine, looking out the window and seeing we were here. I hadn't been here since 2 semesters ago. I wasn't nervous it's not like I had any friends who I would have to reconnect with.
"Bye." I waved at Sam, only glaring at Yasmine before walking inside and heading to the main office to get my schedule.
When I got there I was behind a boy, I saw glance back at me, doing a double take at my appearance. I slouched slightly, pulling down my black sleeve until most of my hand was covered.
"Alright miss it's your turn." I politely smiled at the lady at the desk, telling her my name and that I was new.
"You're new?" The boy asked me suddenly, surprising me slightly.
"Sort of. I've been away for almost a year but I used to go here. I assume you're new new?" I asked, looking him up and down, he seemed to be very nice and full of energy. Poor boy the bullies are going to suck him dry of that.
He laughed slightly, "Yeah, I'm new new, my name is Miguel Diaz, and you're... Selena right?" I smiled, nodding and leaning against the side of the counter, grabbing my schedule when the lady gave it to me.
