written from Kay's perspective

"Hey, you're new aren't you?" The blond one asked. I turned around to talk to them, hoping to make some friends.

"Umm yeah, I am. I'm Kay." I told them offering up a smile. The shortest of the three with dark brown hair gladly returned a toothy smile, and the other two a not so enthusiastic smile, that seemed more forced, but maybe that was just who they were, I didn't know them yet, so who was I to judge.

"It's so nice to meet you Kay! I'm Yasmine, this is Moon, and that's Sam." The blond, Yasmine said introducing her and her friends. Sam was the one who had given me the big smile, and Moon was the other one who had dirty brown hair. I really liked her name, it was unique, and I felt like it suited her, even though I had no clue who she really was.

"It's nice to meet you all too, you guys are the first people here that I've actually talked to." I admit to them, just trying to keep the conversation going, if at least to be polite.

"Oh well, we were just wondering if you wanted to come eat lunch at our table with us?" Yasmine asked, as Moon and Sam nodded behind her in confirmation.

"Okay, sure! Thanks!" I told them. The four of us went through the lunch line, making small talk about how I had moved here from Canada, and what they liked to do for fun around here. After we all had our lunches, I followed them as they led me across the cafeteria to what I guess was their table. We all sat down, and kept the conversation going.

"So what are your classes this term?" Sam asked me. I told her my schedule, and she nodded saying it was too bad we didn't have any classes together.

"Wait, you're taking all of those classes this term?" Yasmine asked me. I turned from Sam to her and nodded. "How?" She asked.

"Sorry, what do you mean 'how'?" I asked her in confusion. She rolled her eyes at me, as if I was stupid for not understanding what she meant.

"I mean, how are you taking all those classes all in one term? Like are you some kind of nerd or something?" She asked. I was taken aback by her saying this, as it's not what I was expecting at all. I cleared my throat before answering.

"I mean, I'm a good student, and I get good grades, so if that's what you classify as a nerd, then I guess so, but I'm just taking the classes to get into a good university, for the most part, because the more academic classes you have, the better your transcript looks." I said with a stone cold face, making sure she knew I was serious and not joking. She scoffed into a laugh after I finished talking.

"Geez, don't take it so personally I just asked a silly question don't freak out. You just didn't look like the type of person to be taking those classes based on your body and clothes." She told me, but turned her body to talk to Moon instead of letting me say anything else to her. God she was a real bitch, wasn't she? I sat there stunned for a minute before turning back around in my seat to face Sam. She just shrugged her shoulders as if to say 'it's fine', but her face said 'sorry she's a bitch'.

"How does how I look determine what classes I take?" I asked Sam.

"Well-" Sam started to talk but was quickly interrupted by Yasmine. I'm really starting to not like this girl.

"Kay, look over to that table." Yasmine said pointing to a table with three boys sitting at it. One had brown almost black hair and a darker skin tone, another the same hair color but really pale skin, and a dirty brown haired guy in the middle of them. He was sitting with his hand covering his face. He looked shy, so I tried to smile at him, but he just looked away. "That table-" Yasmine's voice brought me back to reality, "-is full of nerds! Look at their geeky clothes, and lanky, non-muscular builds. They are the main geeks of the school, never been laid and never will get laid," She laughed before continuing, "and that ugly one in the middle is even uglier once you see him move his hand. We like to call him scar-face, because of his ugly ass scar on his lip." She finished talking and again let out a blood curdling laugh, that she must have thought was cute but was really just annoying. Just as I was about to say something, the darker skinned boy got up from his table where he was sitting with the two other 'geeks' as Yasmine had called them, and started walking over to us. He got about half way to us when a group of guys came and sat down at the table with us, stopping the darker skinned guy from the other table in his tracks. The guy who ended up sitting next to Sam, with his arm around her shoulder waved to the boy from the other table cockily, causing him to turn and walk back to his seat. The table I was sitting at had a wave of laughter wash over them, ending with Yasmine turning to me.

"See? We are so much better and cooler than them, so you can just stick with us and not turn out to be a geek like them, yeah?" She said with the fakest smile I had seen from her yet. I turned so my body was fully facing her, and let a warm smile brush across my face.

"Thank you for your gracious offer Yasmine, but I'll actually pass, because this table seems to be a little too far stuck up YOUR ASS for my liking." I told her, finishing by picking up my tray of food and walking away from their table. I walked straight towards the 'geeks' table, making sure I didn't turn around to face Yasmine's table again.

"Hey, are these seats taken?" I asked the three boys as I got to the edge of their table.

"No, take a seat." The dark skinned one said to me.
