written from Kay's perspective

Seeing as my physics class was right next to the front door, and I already had all by books I needed to take home, I made it to the front door way before Eli, but I didn't mind waiting for him. After about three or four minutes he finally came out the doors to where I was waiting. I sat up off the curb, where I had been and walked over to him, a big smile on my face.

"Hey!" I greeted him.

"Hi." He said back with a smile, it faltering a little at the end.

"What's wrong?" I asked him, concerned he had changed his mind about us hanging out.

"Oh, I just remembered that I forgot to tell you we have to walk to my house, cause I don't have my license yet." He said embarrassed.

"I don't either, so no worries. How long of a walk is it?" I asked him, hoping it wasn't excruciatingly long.

"It's only like five minutes." He said back, worry still evident on his face that I was going to change my mind about wanting to hang out.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" I said back to him. He smiled and nodded, then started walking, me jogging a little to catch up with him as he led us to his house. We made small talk as we walked, mostly talking about what Canada was like, as he was curious to how different it was from L.A. After about five minutes, just like he said, we were walking up the drive way to a cute little house. I wasn't huge, but it wasn't tiny either. Eli walked up to the door first, pulling his key out of his pocket and unlocking the door, heading inside with me following behind him.

"Mom, I'm home." He yelled out, taking off his shoes and putting them on the mat. I copied his actions, and also set my bag down against the wall as he had. "My mom might be a little much, so I'm sorry in advance." He told me with an apologetic grin. It was quite a cute grin, actually. Well, he was quite cute to be honest. I hoped we would become best friends but it we became more, I wouldn't exactly complain. We walked into the kitchen, and his mom started walking down the hall towards the kitchen.

"Hey honey, how was you first... day..." She said as she walked into the kitchen, her sentence slowing near the end, as her eyes landed on me. I took the opportunity to introduce myself. I walked closer to her extending my hand for her to shake, if she chose to.

"Hi, I'm Kay, I just moved here, it's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Moskowitz." She smiled at me and reached out her hand, shaking mine. We both dropped our hands and I stepped back to be beside Eli once again. Mrs. Moskowitz looked between Eli and me, I'm guessing trying to figure out why, or maybe how it had happened that I was hanging out with Eli. From what I had gathered through the day, Eli really only had one friend, and the was Demetri. I had also gathered that Eli had never really talked to a girl, or made new friends. So his mom's reaction of trying to figure out why a fairly pretty girl was with her son, who was not the social butterfly, was fair.

"It's nice to meet you too Kay." She finally said back. "Where did you move from?" She asked me.

"Canada," I replied "Atlantic Canada, to be more specific." She nodded letting me know she was intrigued, and was paying attention.

"Well, that's very nice. I hope you're adjusting to the change well and-" She stopped mid sentence for a moment, as if something had just clicked in her brain, "Eli, is that your sweater?" She asked him. I blushed remembering I was wearing his sweater, and why. I hoped he wouldn't tell his mom the reason why, because then I would probably seem like a bad person.

"Mom, it's actually a long story, and me and Kay would like to hang out so is it okay if we go? Please?" He asked her, trying to sound nice but it coming off a little pushy.

"Yes, okay fine." She dismissed us, and Eli started leading me towards the hall, I'm assuming to his bedroom, since we had already passed the living room. "Oh Eli," she called, making him turn around to look at her, but I stayed looking at him. "Door open a little okay, I don't want any funny business." She told him. I put my head down and tried to stifle a laugh, knowing she had just embarrassed him, but he didn't need to be embarrassed as I thought it was cute how his mom was acting.

"Mom!" He hissed at her through clenched teeth.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, go..." He looked at me as if to apologize before turning around and continuing down the hall. "DOOR OPEN!" His mom yelled once again, once we were out of sight. Eli groaned as we walked down the hall. There were pictures hanging on the walls, and I slowed down to look at them. I stopped walking, looking at one of Eli as a baby, before his lip was fixed. He noticed I had stopped walking, and backed up a few steps to look at the picture with me. I could sense that he was a little uncomfortable with me looking at it, so I turned to look at him instead, but then back to the picture.

"You were a cute baby." I told him.

"Besides the lip?" He asked.

"No, even with the lip." I told him, once again turning to look at him instead of the picture, only this time I stayed looking at him, waiting for him to look back at me. Once he finally did I said, "You haven't changed that much you know." I told him, trying to hold back a smile, but it still peeked through a little.

"What do you mean?" He asked confused, obviously thinking he had changed a lot. I couldn't hold it in any more, so I fully smiled at him letting a little giggle out.

"You're still cute, even with the lip." I told him, whispering it slightly in hopes his mom wouldn't hear us. She probably still did though, as she seemed like the type of mom to eavesdrop on her kids in the hall. Eli blushed, and I shook my head at him, hoping that I had not just made this awkward. "C'mon, where's your room at?" I asked him, hoping we could move on as the moment had passed, making the fact of us just standing silently in his hall quite weird. Luckily it worked and he lead me to his bedroom, leaving the door open per his mother's request. I took a few seconds to look around his room, as he sat on the bed, fiddling with his fingers.

"So what do you like to do for fun?" He asked me, obviously trying to fill in the silence between us.

"Before I moved, I was a dancer, so I like to dance. But back home, I really only focused on school and dance so I didn't have much other free time. Though I do like to read, and watch movies." I told him.

"What kind of movies do you watch?" He asked.

"I'm not too picky, although I will not watch horror movies, and I don't watch romance movies all that often, I'm more into action movies, fantasy, sci-fi, or comedies. What about you?" I asked.

"I like superhero movies a lot, but that's geeky, I know." He said back kind of sadly.

"No. Superhero movies are cool. Are you more of a Marvel or DC guy?" I asked, walking over to sit next to him on his bed.

"Ummm, that's tough because I like them both." He responded after taking a minute to think about his answer.

"OH!" I exclaimed an idea coming to my mind. "We should watch a movie!" I exclaimed to him.

"A superhero one?" He asked back.

"Yeah!" I said back excitedly.

"Okay, do you want to watch it in here, or out in the living room?" He asked. I shrugged not really caring either way. "Let's just watch it in here, less likely my mom will come bother us that way." He said and I laughed. He really was quite funny, and I really liked that about him. "Will you grab me that remote?" He asked, pointing to a remote across the room on his desk.

"What are you too lazy to get it yourself?" I jokingly asked him, as I stood up to grab it. I picked it up and looked over at him, making sure he was looking at me. "Here, catch." I said as I tossed the remote to him. In hind sight, it was a bad idea and I shouldn't have tossed it to him, since I knew his athletic ability was low, but I didn't think it was that low! The remote left my hand, and as if in slow motion, it came down and smacked him right in the head.
