"I don't see anything," Bucky spoke over the intercoms to Sam. "What about you?"

"Nothing," replied Sam.

"We better not have gotten dressed in these suits for nothing," he grumbled back.

Sam was standing at the bar, a woman clingy to either arm. "This is defnetly not for nothing."

Bucky rolled his eyes before returning to scanning the crowd. They'd received an anonymous tip that morning that at this evenings Congress ball there would be an attempt on the Vice-president's life. Captain had suggested they take the tip seriously, even if it was fake. Better safe than sorry, Carol had said to Barnes as she thrust a suit into his hands.

"Relax, Bucky. Have a drink. I don't think the assassin is going to turn up anytime soon. The party has only just started..."

Bucky ripped out his ear piece before he had to listen to more of Sam's useless information. But he did take his advice, shamefully. Picking up a glass of champagne he touched it to his lips, letting the bubbling liquid cool his growing annoyance for his partner.

People strolled around the grand room, all dressed to match it. He found it amusing how every lady tried to stand out amongst the crowd, wearing brightly coloured dresses of reds, blues and greens. Any colour you could think of was present in the room, including rather hideous shade of bright pink. Bucky smiled to himself, mildly amused as the girl in the dress let out a matching obnoxious laugh to the colour of it.

God, how they all clawed to be noticed. It was sad, he thought to himself as he finished the champagne, the world forcing them into thinking they had to compete with one another in order to be viewed as worthy, as beautiful, when they were all equally worthy om their own right.

He placed the empty glass on the tray of a passing waiter, grabbing a mini cheese burger in exchange. Bucky hadn't know Tony well, but he knew that if he could see how small these burgers were, he'd be rolling in his grave. Taking a bite out of it, he resumed watching the crowd of Congress.

A band was setting up in one of the corners near the empty dance floor. Finishing off the two-bite cheese burger, the Winter Soldier wandered closer towards the band, wanting to get a glimpse of the new possible suspects. Making his way through the crowd, he placed the earpiece back in.

"...and you know what she said to me, that she'd do a anything for a slice of my..."

Bucky cut Sam off, "Jesus, you're still going." He paused for a moment whilst he squeezed through a clump of people in the crowd. "I don't think any of the women are the assassin. Non of their dresses allow them to hide any weapons on them."

"What about the band?" Sam sugessted finally being serious.

"I'm checking now." Bucky stood on the edge of the dance floor as the first song started to play. A woman in a simple flowing black dress stood next to him.

"Care for a dance?" she asked in a causal tone.

Bucky didn't even glance at her before taking her hand and leading her into the beginning of a waltz. He swayed them closer towards the band for better inspection.

"You have a gorgeous woman in your arms right now and you're not even paying her any attention. You should feel ashamed of yourself James Barnes," Sam chuckled in his ear.

A blonde head of hair bobbed just below his chin, perfectly moving in time with the music. Skilfully spinning her outwards, Bucky took her in. The bottom of her dress rested just off the ground, making her appear to almost be floating as she flawlessly drifted along the dance floor. Her blonde hair hanging in perfect curls, framing her back that was on display. As she spun back in, Bucky catching her with a hand on her waist, their eyes met. It was like looking into a pit of molten ocean, if that was possible, her deep blue eyes transfixing.
