A/N - Hi everyone! Just thought I'd introduce myself quickly. My name is Izzy and I am a university student in Australia studying to be a primary school teacher. This is why it takes me a while to write some parts due to the load of work that fluctuates week to week. I'll try to stay on top if it though as I absolutely love writing! Maya watched Bucky walk up the stairs, sensor lights turning on in the kitchen as he approached the next level. She let out a breathe she didn't realise she was holding, sinking back down into the couch. Wanda was alive. The twins were alive. So often she would walk past their rooms seeing their miserable faces, and couldn't help but offer them a smile. A small mercy in the cruel world they'd lived in. When she'd started sneaking the twins extra food HYDRA had moved her to another base.

Knowing she couldn't go and see the two of them at this hour and knowing she wouldn't be able to go back to sleep, Maya decided to go for a walk around the new Avengers compound. After a few minutes of further exploring she stumbled across the front door which took, surprisingly, a considerable amount of effort to open.

A bitter breeze greeted her when she stepped into the moon lit night. She tucked her arms around her in an attempt to block out the early morning breeze. This type of darkness was comforting. The glimmer of light from the moon and the stars creating a serene otherworldly atmosphere, a world of endless possibilities. Possibilities to run, to dance, to sing, to imagine to her hearts content.

Absent mindlessly, Maya began to hum a soft tune whilst she wandered around the corner of the building. Dry grass crunched under her bare feet. It was a welcoming feel in comparison to the cold concrete floors she had grown use to. Her hum turned into a song as Maya softly sang aloud.

"And it's warm like a soft kiss, well you're someone that I'm gonna miss."

Flashes of her previous life flittered into her mind. The brush of a warm hand on her cheek, the innocent safety of a hug from a father, the soft smile of a mother's love. A small tear slipped down her cheek as a the sound of a guitar started play around her. Maya loved that about her abilities, when she sang, an orchestra always accompanied her in perfect time with her. It made Maya feel as if she was living the musicals she'd always dreamed of being in.

"Cause reckless is fun when you're not the one that gets hurt." A subtle drum beat joined her accompaniment making her feet unconsciously begin to dance. She let the music take her hand and lead her through the dance, swaying and spinning. Tears tracked their way down her cheeks, the few she had left to mourn with for the life she had lost and could gain back now that the Avengers had found her. That was the hope that was driving her forward, holding her hand in the dance, guiding her feet in the right direction. However, a part of her memory had her looking into a pair of piercing blue eyes whilst she danced.

"Put all my thoughts into the jar, and hide them away somewhere so far." The thought of having her family back, of returning home made her crying cease. But, the idea of facing them with the knowledge of what she had done, the people she had been forced to kill in order to protect them terrified her. That's when the painful realisation of what reckless her actions could mean for her family came to mind. How could she have been so selfish to run away when HYRDA held her families life in their hands?

"Cause when you're hearts in your mouth, your guts on the ground, and you've got nothing left from the chest down." Terror caught her as she came out of a spin, his arms suffocating with their hug. The red symbol on his jacket pressing in her back. Maya felt her body slipping through his arms, her body falling forwards, her knees taking the force of the impact.
