Love or hate?( A difficult choice)

Chapter 13

Thomas entered my room with a big smile on his face and filled with excitement almost bouncing like a girl , "hey Ava guess what, we are going out today". When he saw me frowning in confusion he continued "we are going out shopping in the malls with Demona, of course so c'mon girl get up and get ready we will leave in half an hour".

What! We are going out it took me a minute to grasp what he said to me. I came back to reality when I heard Thomas call my name. "We are going out of the palace but how wasn't I supposed to be under house arrest like a kidnapped victim or somethin".

"Oh! I don't know about that I just know Darmen said you can go when Demona asked him so get ready fast, okay".

"Wait Darmen he is here ?"

"Yup, he is now cmon lazy girl move fast I will be waiting downstairs".

Darmen is here it has been five days since I last saw Darmen at the ball where has he been was a mystery actually he is a mystery to me. I don't understand anything he is allowing me to go out of the palace where I can easily get a chance to flee. Why? The next question in my mind really caught me offguard do I really want to run away. I shook my head to clear my head of these disturbing thoughts. What ever the reason be I am going out after almost a month now it really made me excited and happy. I was feeling suffocated in the palace the thought of breathing fresh air made a smile spread on my face. I quickly got out of my bed and dashed into the bathroom to take a quick shower.

I came out of my closet all ready to go in my normal jeans and top but froze on my spot as soon as I entered into my room Darmen was standing there in all his glory waiting for me. His eyes left mine and lowered to look at my appearance, when he looked back at me with an unreadable expression. All this time I could just stare at him, he has an effect on me which I don't like.

His deep voice brought me out of my thoughts "you are going out with Demona but not for once think of running away because I am sending Thomas along with some guards to keep an eye on you. You have been allowed to go only on demona's request, remember you are just at your Master's mercy, my mercy so don't do anything stupid. Now get going you all must be back by six." With that he walked towards the door "and make sure Demona doesn't find out your pity story" with that he went out of my room and disappeared.

I stood there in shock thinking about what I have been told. I am at his mercy so I am just a puppet in his hands who has to do what his master says. But in the ball he was treating me like a princess and didn't he say I am his soon to be wife. Was that all a lie ? Oh god! All this is really confusing. Is this the real Darmen and one at the ball was all that just to put up a great show in front of all those people. All my excitement and happiness was gone in a flash and I was sad and more than anything I was angry with him, with myself for trusting him. I should never have done that after all he is my kidnapper.

When I went down Demona was already waiting for me with a huge grin plastered on her face I did not want her to feel bad so I gave her a soft smile back. "So Ava are you excited for our shopping trip we can hang around the mall and do all the girly stuff I never had a chance to do before. As you can see I only had my husband and brother around but now you are here and we can have a fun day at the shops I an so excited". She was jumping up and down in her spot.

"Calm down sweet heart you are scaring the poor girl. I know you are excited but please don't overdo things. And ava I know it's not easy but please bear with her." Varun demona's husband said who just entered the room.

"Shut up Varun ava doesn't mind I am sure do you Ava? And please feel free to tell me if I am overdoing things and if I do anything you don't like okay." She said with a pleasant smile.

Before I could reply Darmen who just entered the room did "oh don't worry little sis she doesn't mind anything and I am pretty sure she is excited to get out too, right Ava?" I just looked at him and nodded my head once what else can I do after all I am at his mercy as he very rightly said.

"Go on girls, have fun". Varuna said happy to see his wife so excited, they really did love each other. I wish I had that but I am stuck here now at least I am going out today, hurray. What I am trying to be optimistic here!

"Thomas take good care of them and remember what I told you" Darmen warned Thomas and gave me a look that clearly said what will happen if I try anything. I sighed audibly and followed a very enthusiastic Demona who was almost running towards the palace doors.

When we reached there a black limousine was waiting for us "wow, this is our ride" the words came out of my mouth more like a scream. I quickly went inside the car to save myself from the embarrassment. Demona was already seated and Thomas took the front seat. The interiors of the limo was really elegant with black leather covers, small pieces of beautiful stones studded in the middle of the car's ceiling and shiny blue tinted windows giving it perfect finish. I was so busy observing things that I did not notice that Demona talking to me.

"Hey, are you listening? I said that you look really pretty in your blouse and jeans. I like the simplicity in you. Knowing you are officially the princess now you clean up pretty well."

"Thanks, I guess I don't like wearing dresses much they are uncomfortable."

She smiled at me and said "now I know why my brother choose you." Really I don't think so only if she knew the truth. "Anyways so what else do you like, tell e a out yourself".

"I love reading especially classic, I am studying literature so that I can become a good writer one day. My best friend Amanda used to call me a book worm, she had to drag me out of my books to have some fun." As I was talking I realise how much I missed Amanda I really wanted to see her at least let her know that I am fine.

"She sounds great". I am sure she is happy for you even if she misses you. We can call her to join us in our next trip to the mall." She said trying to cheer me up. I wish we could.

I gave her a soft smile and changed the subject "so who is your best friend and what do you do, it's your turn to tell the secret".

"It has always been Darmen and me. We never went to a proper school, for being a prince and princess is not always colourful you know. We were homeschooled and learned like they do in normal schools but we're also taught about princely duties and eticates. We could never trust strangers not knowing whether they really liked us for us or for our titles, so we never made friends. After I married Varuna I have always been worried about Darmen because he only had me. I know my brother he would never complain but he is lonely but after meeting you I am relieved to see that Darmen has you. He is not alone anymore." She said smiling at me.

I just smiled at her and turned to look at the window I know the palace was attest 4 hours drive from where I lived so I knew we were not going to the mall I usually went to with Amanda. I looked at the passing trees and beautiful scenery a thought passing my mind Is Darmen reall in need of a friend?

"We are here" Thomas's voice made me look to the other side where he was standing with the door open and a huge building which looked like a big mall stood behind him. Demona went out excited and squeaking like a little girl. I sighed and braced up myself loudly I can do this. With that I went out of the car and followed her.
