What woke me up the next day was the small light creeping into the room, casting a blank shadow on the porcelain wall. I turned to Ezra sleeping beside me, his chest heaving up and down as he drowned in his slumber.

My gaze flickered from his dark hair to his pointy nose and pink lips, my heart fluttered in remembrance of how he softly kissed me yesterday. I had wanted it so bad, I had wanted him so bad I couldn't have enough time to think about the consequences of my decisions.

I stepped out of his bed slowly hoping not to wake him. I got into my shoes and headed out of his room and his apartment. As I walked down to my dorm, I could only think about Ezra's words and world. The only thought my head resonated with was the thought of him.

I headed into the dorm, the living room empty. I knew they were still sleeping in as it was the early hours, even Lane didn't flinch in his corner as I opened the door.

I went into my room and jumped into a hot bath. I didn't last long in it because this morning, my muscles didn't relax in the warm temperature, not with the thoughts in my head.

I was aware of what result combing out my hair would bring so I didn't even bother with it, so I picked out a hat and wore it over my blonde hair instead. I had not felt that much pale in a long while but I couldn't think about that for long.

As I grabbed my car keys and stepped out of my room, Lane flinched and barked softly on seeing me.

"Sheesh buddy, not now," I mouthed as I shooed it away. It let out sounds as though he was pouting at my dismissal but I headed out of the house anyways.

As I drove to Midland county hospital, I had a goal in mind. As I flipped the door open and walk to the doctor's lounge, I was busy arranging all of my thoughts in the order of their priority. I knocked on Dr Topaz's door and peeped inside to find him with his glasses on making some notes on his charts as if to study.

"Raine?" He mumbled as soon as he turned to find me.

"Good morning." I greeted him and he nodded his head.

"Hi, come in and have a seat, when did you get here?" He ushered me in, pushing his glasses to above his head and leaving it there. He sat on the edge of his desk as he handed me a small juice box which reminded me of Ezra. I shook off the thought of him and turned back to him with a sigh.

"I understand that you're a very experienced doctor," I started to which he nodded in agreement. "And you know the situation at hand, what's your thoughts about Gianna and me taking the surgery?"

He looked at me and then sighed as he clasped his hands together and placed them on the table.

"I do not want to give you false hopes, Raine," he answered as if to prepare me.

"Actually, I'd very much like that you do not." And he nodded to my request.

"You see, that surgery for you is more like a maintenance procedure just to continue your management," he started as he headed to the chart and described more with it. "But for Gianna, her overgrowth isn't quite over the line and it is something that chemotherapy and the surgery could take out."

"Effectively?" I asked.

"Like it was never there before, Raine." he answered and I nodded.
