I jumped awake and then sighed out. I sat up, looked around, and saw that my ex-boyfriend was sitting in a chair beside the bed with a cigarette in his hand. "Morning sleeping beauty" he spoke as I groaned and let my head fall back onto my pillow, "the fuck do you want John?" I asked still half asleep, "c'mon Y/n, can't come and see you?" he asked as I groaned and flipped him off. "Go to hell," I said muffled by the pillow, "you can count on it. I need to be patched up" he spoke as I sat up, and looked at him. "Where at?" I asked, "across my stomach" he simply spoke as I sighed, "okay..." I nodded as I got out of bed, we walked into the front room after I grabbed everything I needed, he removed his shirt and I began to patch him up. "I don't see you for three years and then you just show up wanting me to patch you up. Way to be a complete asshole John" I spoke as he chuckled a little, "you're still not mad at me are you?" he asked as I looked at him, "y'know...I could just leave you to bleed out" I told him as he rolled his eyes, "you wouldn't do that...you love me too much" he spoke as I groaned, "I hate that you know me too well" I mumbled as he let out another chuckle.

Once he was patched up he looked at me, "glad to see you're doing well" he spoke getting up from his seat, "what else do you want from me, John?" I asked, "I just pulled a soldier demo from a little girl yesterday. Looked like it was trying to come through" he spoke as I stared at him, "that's crazy, demons can't come through onto our plane", "I know...but that still doesn't mean I want my partner back" he spoke as I blinked a few times, "thought you didn't do partners," I said putting away the stuff I had pulled out, "that was the whole reason you broke up with me," I told him as he remained quiet, "that was before I learned something" he started as I looked at him. He pulled out another cigarette after finishing the one he was smoking earlier, "I'm dying Y/n" he spoke as I stared at him, I exhaled slowly, "how long?" I asked looking into his eyes, "Y/n..." he whispered, he knew I loved him still, "how long?!" I shouted as he sighed out, "a few months, maybe a year" he responded, "shit" I spoke as the rest of my breath was taken away from me, "Y/n...I could really use your help" he spoke as I shook my head, "no, I swore that I was done helping you after the last time we met. The only reason I still patch you up is that I don't like seeing you hurt" I told him as he sighed.

"I know you're still in love with me" he spoke as I looked at him, "of course I'm still in love with you John! You were my first love, you performed an exorcism on me and saved my life." I told him as he nodded and put the cigarette out in the ashtray I had. "I can't do this without you Y/n" he spoke as I shook my head and placed my hand on his cheek, "you can...you just don't want to" I spoke as he kissed the palm of my hand. After that, he left. I sighed out as I sat down on my couch and ran my fingers through my hair.

~A year later~

I yawned, sat up, stretched, and rubbed my eyes. I walked into the front room and saw John sitting on the couch chewing some gum. "Thought you'd be in hell by now," I told him as he chuckled, "I redeemed myself when I saved the world from Satan's son...I was going to heaven...then Satan took my cancer away and...well. Here I am" he spoke as I crossed my arms and stared at him. "Here you are" I whispered as he stared at me, "I gave up smoking..." he spoke as he got up, "gave up a lot of the things I used to do" he continued as he started walking towards me. "I didn't give up what I do...but I know one thing" he whispered as I arched an eyebrow. "A long time ago, I gave up on you...on us" he spoke as he placed his hands on my hips, I instinctively wrapped my arms around him. "I'm not willing to give up on us anymore..." he whispered as he placed his forehead against mine. "I love you Y/n...I want you in my life again like before" he whispered as I placed a hand on his cheek and smiled. "I love you too John" I whispered as I kissed him.
