Alicia rubbed her eyes and stood up. She stretched and searched the cave for the others. Ramses was polishing the saddle and Ra was basking in the sunlight. Even though the hole was small, Ra seemed to be engulfed in the light.
Ramses put the saddle back on Ra, "I forgot how much you like the sun. I mean I should've known you are a LightDragon. I'm sorry we have to travel at night, Ra."
Alicia walked to them and pet Ra. His scales radiated the heat, but much stronger. The white swirls around his eyes were much brighter.
"Why do you travel at night?" Alicia laid against Ra, his warmth relaxing her.
Ra laid down, taking in more sun. Ramses also leaned against Ra. It's like laying in the sand on the beach.
"It's safer to travel at night. Some Tribes are very protective. That way they can notice a LightDragon and not attack." Ramses pulled himself into the saddle.
Alicia pulled herself into the saddle behind him. Ra turned and flew out the cave. The glow worms weren't glowing, but the sunlight from the entrance swallowed the darkness. They flew out from the mountains into the sky. Ra roared with delight as the sun shone on them.
"Where are we going?" Alicia looked down at the tan ground.
"We are in the Empty Sands. We're going to the DesertTribe." Ramses said.
"What do I do when I get there?" Alicia asked.
"Whatever you want I have to go and talk with the Chieftan." Ramses patted Ra and he flew closer to the ground.
"What do you talk about?" Alicia rubbed her eyes, trying to make a mirage disappear.
"Anything the Chieftan wants to know, within reason. I'm more like a newsboy and a tradesman, but I prefer being called the messenger." Ramses jerked the reigns back.
Ra abruptly spread out his wings and pushed his feet into the sand. Ramses tried to grab Alicia, but she flew off the saddle into the sand. Ra continued to slide through the sand, kicking dust up everywhere. Alicia stood up and brushed herself off. Well that's exciting. She looked up and realized Ra had come extremely close to running into the DesertTribe.
Ramses ran to Alicia, Ra following, "You ok?"
"I'm fine, but I thought you would know how close we were." Alicia laughed.
Ramses laughed awkwardly, "Well uh... there was a mirage. We usually travel at night, remember? I really hate we practically crashed your first trip."
Ra hung his head and swirled a claw in the sand.
"Does he understand us... perfectly?" Alicia walked up to Ra and pet his snout.
Both Ramses and Ra nodded, "Ra is extremely intelligient. In fact, all dragons are. I just think some dragons refuse to show their relation to us."
Ramses cleared his voice, "I'm going to talk with the Chieftan, you and Ra run around." Ramses sauntered into the Tribe.
Ra fell over and rolled in the sand, causing dust to fly up. Alicia coughed and rubbed her eyes. When she removed her hands she noticed two bright red figures in the sand.
She walked a few more steps before she realized it was a dragon. It's scales blended perfectly with the sand. The vibrant red objects were it's horns, which curled upward. Ra came next to Alicia, his head dipped in the SandDragon's direction. The SandDragon flicked its forked tongue out at them. It slowly stalked forward. A row of dark brown scales went from its eyes to the tip of its tail. Ra snorted and walked in front of Alicia, protecting her.
