"I don't know about you but I'm feeling twenty twooo." I jumped around singing at the top of my lungs.

"Hey hottie." Jamie walks into my room, wearing a mid length dress. It's black and has an intricate crossed up back that dips down her back.

"Hey!" I jump over to her.

"Ready to have the night of your life?" She smiles at me and lifts a strand of my hair up.

I roll my eyes and smile up at her. "Is that even a question?"

"Come on, let's fix you up!" She grabs a piece of my hair.

I suck at putting my hair up, it takes too long and seems too tedious. I already finished my makeup a while ago and put my dress on, but my hair looks like a birds nest currently.

I sit on my vanity stool and watch Jamie straighten out my curls from the vanity mirror. Easy enough to most but I frequently burn my fingers and just give up because it hurts too much. Even with those heat protective gloves I still manage to still burn myself which sucks. I bought those gloves for a pretty penny, they should work!

Tonight I'm wearing a glittery dress that fits me like a glove and it is low in the back but doesn't have too much cleavage. Not that I exactly fit that facility quite right.

After an hour or so, Jamie lifts her hands and claims she's finally done.

"Yay!" I spring up and face her with a hug.

A knock at my door startles me and I go to answer it.

I got an apartment my junior year of college and it might not be much, but to me it's everything. It smells slightly of mold and cheese, but I mask that with a concerning amount of candles and perfume. So far it seems to do the trick.

Opening the door I smile as I stare at Mason on my front door.

"Hey Mason!" I greet him with a smile.

I met Mason my freshman year, we became friends instantly.

After Grey left me my senior year summer, before college, I fell into this depressive state. It was really the lowest point in my life. I think Mason saw something in me that needed the extra help and since then we've been best friends!

I don't think Grey is coming for me anymore. I suppose it's partly because everyone I know tells me to move on, but I just need more time. Four years maybe a long time but I still think of our treehouse days. I was such a child then and now I'm a grown woman but I have a huge hold right where those memories belonged.

I thought after four years I could just forget about him, but I can't and it hurts. I'll never be able to see a guy differently than a friend and I'm afraid that kisses just won't feel the same.

After nights of getting drunk I have kissed guys and I've felt nothing. No sparks. No butterflies. Nothing like the kiss Grey and I would share.

Jamie tells me to still keep my hopes up, but its been four years and I've gotten nothing. Not a single text saying "hey"- nothing. I mean a measly little letter would be sufficient for me, for a whole year! But atlas, my inbox, mail box, and text messages are empty.

"Ready birthday girl?" Mason asks taking me out of my trance.

"Yeah." I shake my head and smile up at him. My cheeks glow red in excitement.

Jamie and I leave the apartment and follow Mason to his car. Jamie slings a flask into her bag and we pregame our way to the car. Mason was strictly excluded.

Mason has a nice muscle car and I have no idea how, but it's probably daddy's money. He gets so mad when I say that, so I frequently tell him that.

He opens the door for me and I get in the passenger seat. "Wow such a gentleman." I giggle mocking him.

"Just sit and be quiet" he slams the door shut and rolls his eyes.

"Hey where's my gentleman gesture?" Jamie stands outside the car looking at him with a glare.

"Do you have arms?" He asks.

"Yes." She says in a duh tone.

"Then do it yourself." He smiles.

Even in the car I can hear their non-stop bickering, that makes me laugh.

"Dick." Jamie mumbles as she slumps her way into the back seat.

Once Mason gets in, Jamie nags his ear off. Mason lets her say two words before he starts up the car and loud music drowns her voice out.

-

Arriving outside the club, I hear the music bouncing off of the walls and turn to see Jamie smiling.

We all get out and head towards the line but Mason grabs both my arm and Jamie's and winks.

"Hold on-" He walks towards the bouncer.

"Hey Jeremy." He gives him a warming smile and does that weird handshake thingy guys do.

He lets us in and I hear some groaning people from the crowd. The size of the line alone, makes me shrink behind Mason.

"What's up V?" He leans down to ask.

"I feel bad." I scratch the back of my neck. "I mean they've been waiting for who knows how long, and it's pretty cold they could ge-"

"Shh it's ok." He grabs my shoulders.

"V let's just have some fun!" She smiles and grabs my hand.

We make our way to the bar and take shots to get the night going.
