to say xiao was grumpy was one big understatement. zhongli was sure he could see a vein on his temple popping out in anger while he sat on the couch, arms and legs crossed. venti was chatting happily with them (or more with themself because neither of the other two men were actually listening to their weird rambles about that new korean drama they found on netflix) and finally shut up when they could hear the front door getting unlocked.

y/n, on the outside, was nervously swiping her card on the black lock and typing in the eight digit code; she knew venti was back and she knew how venti was. there was no way of getting out of their grasp when they were in the same country now (damn their rich musician ass) so they might just get this over with now.

"i'm back", she announced, eying the two additional and very familiar pair of shoes in the entrance, kicking off hers too and sliding on the crocs kaeya got her (who else though).

"n/n!" venti jumped at the poor woman with open arms, hugging the air out of her lungs, when she was entering the living room.

"heeey, venti", she awkwardly chuckled, her eyes fixating at the back of xiao's head while she stroked the producer's back.

"welcome back, i made some tea. did you have lunch already?", zhongli joined the two of them and placed a hand on her lower back unconsciously.

"thanks and yeah, hu tao invited me to have lunch together again", she warmly smiled up at the brunette and he nodded at her response.

"good, then we will back up into my office now, have fun you two." venti suddenly pushed her towards the couch and zhongli grabbed the musician after they said something about the lines "use protection please".

y/n nervously scratched her nape slightly and lowered her bag next to the couch table before sitting down at the other end of the sofa.

"uhm, hi", were the first words which escaped her lips quietly. xiao let out a low snort and finally let his golden eyes slide to her direction - his impression softened immediately: "hey".

it was awkward. like really awkward. neither of them knew how to start an actual conversation anymore and it doesn't even take me having an argument with my best friend to have awkward silences afterwards, jesus christ, y/n, xiao, get your shit together already.
and that's how i (the author) got them to finally speak about their weird ass problems.

"sooo, how are you doing?", the young woman blundering asked the ravenette, still too nervous to actually look at him.

"uhm, ok i guess. you?" that was absolutely without any grace whatsoever, oh archons.

"ah, yeah, haha, same?", she responded while panicking internally. that was bad, really bad. there was so much she wanted to talk about, so many thoughts and emotions but she couldn't. something in her just couldn't and she was so upset at herself for being so anxious.

"soo", oh thank the gods xiao made the decision to get going, "you're dating hu tao? how is it like?"

oh no.

xiao take that back.

aboard mission.

can i stop this somehow-

"wh A T?" xiao flinched, big golden eyes looking at the sister shook expression y/n made. they finally saw each other's faces directly and it was like they couldn't recognize the opposite person anymore.

xiao could clearly see how she tried to hide her heavy eye-bags under layers of concealer and y/n could see the dark circles around his eyes just perfectly fine because they didn't even have the time, motivation, energy and make-up to hide them anyways. how relatable.

"eh?", the ravenette made and lifted a brow which made him look even more confused - and oh believe me when i say it but y/n was as equally confused.

"d-dating hu tao? what?", she mumbled overwhelmed, "i'm dating hu tao?! since when- huh?!" xiao's look instantly became sombre; "oh what a bitch", they thought.

"she told me you were dating. i came over last week to.. speak to you and i encountered her at your front door", he explained. it was hard to shove away the anger and aggression in his voice but scaring off the woman clearly wasn't the best idea right now.

"what the hell?! no, we are not dating!", she was quick to respond eagerly, still trying to process, "i wouldn't date someone i don't have feelings for!" the ravenette simply stared at her cherry lips which looked so inviting to him.

"ah fuck it", he told himself before carefully lifting himself from the cushions to sit more next to her. y/n was confused.

and she was even more confused when he suddenly kissed her.

red roses started blossoming on their soft cheeks and drowned their vision in deep pink shades.

"so would you date someone you have feelings for?", he whispered so softly, y/n could feel his warm breath on her burning skin when everything she could see were his amber eyes.

"if you're asking me to be your girlfriend, then yes", y/n happily whispered back before pressing her lips against his again.

a/n so uhm i tried? i'm really bad at fluff LMFAO
