The next three week pass very sluggishly. You got Dabi his pictures and a brief synopsis of what you've learned about Touya Todoroki after you got home that night and he was silent for weeks until he mentioned he was stopping by the agency one night, so you left a window unlocked for him. You made sure you stayed away from Endeavor's office under pretenses of going through some last minute paperwork on the other side of the building before you locked up. It was normal for you to work late into the night, so it didn't seem suspicious that you were the only one in the entire building the night Dabi snuck in. Regardless, it was weird knowing Dabi was on the same floor as you. Especially with how you had left things the last time you two spoke.
In the lounge on the other side of the building, you're making a show of writing down notes and "analyzing" some documents (you were actually making a grocery list, but the security cameras can't pick that up from their position) when you check your phone and see that it's two in the morning: The time Dabi had told you to come chase him out.
With a relaxed and almost languid manner, you get your papers together and head back over to Endeavor's office to get your bag. Once you hit the hallway where his office is, you really get into character and make a show of noticing the door ajar, making sure the security cameras can see. You ignite yourself in a flash and kick open the door to see Dabi sitting at Endeavor's desk, shoving a bunch of papers up his shirt.
"What the hell are you doing in here?" You yell, hoping you're selling your performance and Dabi says nothing, haphazardly shooting some fire at you (which you block with ease) and throwing himself out the window behind him.
Now this you definitely weren't expecting and your first instinct is to shout "OMG ARE YOU OKAY?" but that would look pretty bad so you bite your tongue and dash to the window to see that Dabi has already disappeared.
Gritting your teeth together, you notify the police like any responsible hero would do and report Endeavor Agency's second break in.
It's almost 4:00 am when you finally make it home and you send a quick text to Dabi's most recent number.
Unknown:
U good?
His response is almost immediate.
yup. got what I needed.
You don't bother with responding and the next day you strut into Hawks' agency on some official business and head on up to his office where you let yourself in without knocking. Inside, you find Hawks talking to one of the very few teenagers you actually like. They both look up from where they're sitting on the couch as you enter and you ignore Hawks's greeting and smile at his companion instead. "Tokoyami. What's up, kid?"
"Hello, Solar." Tokoyami dips his head in respect and Dark Shadow emerges from behind him excitedly. "Hey Solar!"
Hawks lets out a strained laugh. "Oh okay, so you can call him 'kid', no problem, but when I call you that you threaten to yeet me into the sun."
"Because he's an actual kid." You counter before looking at the teen and crossing your arms. "Tokoyami, how old are you?"
"15." He replies, obviously not wanting to be caught in the middle of you and Hawk's argument by the look on his face.
You look at Hawks pointedly. "See? He's still a kid. I'm a whole ass adult."
He laughs before hitting you with that cocky smirk of his. "Please. I had to tell you what taxes were."
"And I had to teach you how to cook something other than instant ramen and chicken nuggets."
His expression falters as he realizes that you're right and he grumbles. "It's just a nickname."
