Noblesse [ENHYPEN FF]

4 - A sealed noblesse

[Minjung's POV]

We arrived at Beomgyu's house. The ride home was silent as Beomgyu had been murmuring things under his breath the whole way. I got out of the car as I followed the taller boy inside. He quickly walked down the stairs to his basement as he turned on a small lamp. It was dust everywhere and stuff were laying unevenly all over the place. He went to a shelf as he scanned it. He pulled out a book and started to look at it, quickly turning the book's pages.

He walked up to me as he clasped the book together and gave it to me before heading upstairs again. I followed him as I carried the heavy book with me. I placed it on the kitchen counter and read the title. 'Noblesse'. Beomgyu seemed to have calmed down as he started to prepare some tea.

"You like reading books about the supernatural so I want you to read that." He simply said with his casual tone back. I took the book as I headed to the couch. Beomgyu came shortly after and gave me some tea as he sat and stared at me while I read the book.

It had been four hours since I opened the book as I closed it. The information was flowing around in my head as I quickly got up and grabbed my notebook. I flipped it open to a new blank page that I named 'Noblesse'.

I wrote down key words such as 'birthmark' as they would always have a ying and yang symbol somewhere on their arm that represented the harmony between the noblesse and the vampires. 'Vampire breed' as noblesse would breed with vampires to create the ultimate creature that was supposed to be perfect as it was mixed between two godlike creatures. 'Nature' as the noblesse was a creature created by the nature. 'Vampire obey' as vampires needed to obey the noblesse because they were the higher ups. And lastly 'mind control' as it was the only power they could execute, except on each other.

I happily put down my pen as I was excited to know more about this new creature. I read through my notes again as my eyes stopped at the word 'birthmark'. I slowly looked up at Beomgyu that waited for me to puzzle together everything. He has a ying and yang birthmark. My eyes widened as I gasped.

"You're a noblesse!" I exclaimed as it sounded like I tried to convince him. He smiled as he showed of his mark. I grabbed his arm as I admired it. My best friend just got cooler.

"You're also one." He said. I let go of his arm as I pointed at myself in disbelief. I started to look around on my arms as I saw nothing.

"But where's my mark?" I furrowed my eyebrows as I kept looking around. He must be joking.

"You haven't awakened yet." He simply said like it was supposed to be obvious. I picked up the book again as I tried to look for something about awakening. I found nothing as I looked up again at Beomgyu, waiting for him to explain.

"You will know when you awaken. I want to keep you as the Minjung you are now so I won't tell you." He said as sadness showed in his eyes. I tilted my head as I didn't understand what he was talking about.

"But I'll always be your Minjung!" I exclaimed as I put the book on the table and went over to hug the boy. He hugged me back as he pulled me down on his lap.

"I just don't want you to get in trouble. I don't want you to enter this world." He said as he snuggled into my neck. I played with his hair as I was deep in thought.

"What will happen when I awaken?" I asked. Was I going to become a different person? He looked up at me as he held my cheek with his big hand.

"I just don't want you to leave me, that's all." He whispered as his deep dark eyes stared into mine. I remembered that the book said that the noblesse can't be together. The vampires were for the noblesse and them only.

"So two noblesse can't have a romantic relationship?" I asked. The boy nodded as he let go of my cheek.

"But that means that we can be together if we're just friends right?" I asked for confirmation. He nodded again but this time sadness could be seen in his face as he built up tears, struggling to hold them in.

"Hey don't cry. I'll always be your best friend." I said as I tried to ease the serious atmosphere. He quickly wiped his tears that escaped from his eyes.

"Is there any way for me to detect a vampire?" I asked in advance. He shook his head.

"They're not your casual movie vampires so you can scratch all that knowledge. I'll get you a book that my grandma gave me." He said as a small smile formed on his lips as he thought about his grandma.

"I'll try to protect you as long as I can." He said before he snuggled back into my neck.

Beomgyu dropped me off at home as I got to keep the old, heavy book if I wanted to reread it. I walked to my bed as I was ready to go to sleep. My mind was spinning from all the knowledge as I still couldn't believe everything. It felt like a prank but I realized that it wasn't after I had looked into Beomgyu's eyes that evening.
