"Leave Yorokobi?" I mimicked.
My parents stared awkwardly at Daisuke.
"Mother, Father, could you give us a moment..?" I asked them quietly.
They nodded and silently left the apartment.
"What the hell is your problem?" I demanded angrily.
Daisuke turned from the window. "Do you know about the "Knight of the Galaxy?"
What? How did he know? I was about to answer, when he peeked at the book on the table.
"I guess you do..." He murmured, and picked up the book and started flipping through it. "Where did you find it?"
"My parents just gave it to me, said they got it from the library." I said honestly.
"Must've been hidden in the restricted section somewhere. Such a rare book, no more than five people have read it. For it to be right under my nose like this after all these years..."
"You've read it?" I asked cautiously.
"Yes," He answered "along with your mom and dad, you, and Izanagi. Five people. Five people too many."
So that's how Izanagi knew of this weapon. "What's so bad about this book?"
"This book was written in a tiny village of twenty-five people, and it slaughtered them all. The villagers were mentally unstable, and some began to believe that they were the Knight of the Galaxy, and began mutilating their competition. Since then, this book has been deemed haunted, even though it looks so harmless."
"Is the author still alive?"
"No, once the villagers had become obessed with it, they flagged the author down and murdered him and fought over the only copy in the world. It's funny how words could do so much damage to a society. All the witnesses except for two were killed - Your mom and dad. Your parents believed that you were the prophecy child, since they took the book and fled back to their home village after the massacre, and you were born on midnight of the same day. I guess rumors got around of this 'weapon' as Izanagi called it, and he sent men and stole the book from your parents, and destroyed the village and everyone in it, except you."
I sighed. "How do you know so much? How did you get to read the book in the first place?"
"When I was captured by Izanagi and kept in the cell, he tried to recruit me and told me all about it. That's how I learned about this. He told me about the book's past, and your parents and what they knew, and I pieced the rest together from what you've told me also. It did kind of strike me as odd that he would share so much information with me, but I guess it doesn't matter now."
I sat down on the couch. "Why do you want me to leave?"
"If word got out of you as the Knight of the Galaxy, Yorokobi could repeat what that village did, and it could easily spread to the rest of the territory, and the human race will be extinct."
"But I don't even know if I am the weapon! As you said, my parents just think that I am because I was born on the same day as the book! So no, I will not leave until I find more answers."
He sighed in frustration. "Fine, suit yourself." He walked out into the hallway and slammed the door shut behind him.
A couple of moments later, the door slowly opened to my parents.
"Is everything alright?" My mother asked.
I nodded. "Yeah," I said, trying to calm my tone. They must've known I was upset so they didn't bother me of what the conversation was about.
