It's been seventeen years since the humans arrived on this planet. Earth turned to rubble because the humans depleted all of the world's natural resources and could no longer thrive there. The humans decided to transport the "important" people, like presidents, kings, queens, ambassadors, to another planet and left the rest of humanity to suffer with no resources on Earth. Thankfully humans had advanced technology on Earth so they could travel to other galaxies within a couple of months at the most. Hell, I think they even accidentally entered an entirely different dimension because of the planet we landed on. Our ship's radars and robot specters brought back false information stating that the planet was entirely empty with 10 times more resources than Earth and the planet was half as big as the sun. The information was partially right. The planet was thriving with food, water, and other provisions. But, what we didn't know was... We weren't alone. We smacked down on what it looked like an endless war between over a dozen of different species, and by species I mean the kind of stuff you would read in fantasy books when you were a kid. Yup, there are werewolves, vampires, magicians, angels, demons, dwarves, orcs, goblins, fairies, and a lot more that I could fill this entire book with all fighting each other for territory and resources, and we humans just jumped right in the middle of it.
I was only a week old in my mother's belly when the humans corrupted Earth. I was born soon after the humans constructed a small village in a narrow valley after arriving on this planet, the planet that the humans call "Heiwa", which I recall means "peace" in Japanese, but the name is extremely misleading, considering there's war bustling about us in all directions. None of the other species were aware that we humans had arrived on their planet until four years after my birth when the human's ventured too far looking for resources, and wandered into enemy territory. The enemies found our village and burned it. I remember seeing the scorched bodies of my friends, and even my parents lying there on the ground while the enemy torched my home village. They were goblins if I remember correctly, such fierce and disgusting creatures who neighbored the human's territory. The goblins burned down the small village in an hour, leaving nothing but debree of the wooden buildings and the ashes of the burned bodies.
Well, how I survived is an interesting story. Of course there were dozens of other human ships that spread over the planet, but I wasn't sure if they had been discovered yet by the other species, but somehow they heard that our village had been attacked and came to help, and I was found barely conscious hiding behind a rock with a burn mark on my chest, so they took me in as a foster child, and I was quickly adopted into a older-aged couple who cared much for me, and even gave me an education that they had received on Earth, and even told stories of their time on Earth and even taught me some of its history, and to be quite honest, I was jealous. Earth sounded like a wonderful place compared to this hellhole.
I spent my days mostly alone while the small village quickly progressed into a thriving city. Skyscrapers as high as I could tilt my head backwards were being built on both sides of the huge asphalt roads, parks were being constructed every few thirty blocks, preschools to high-schools were being built on both sides of the streets, and my brain couldn't process how fast this city was growing. After five years, the city filled the entire valley which stretched as far as the eye could see with blinding-white skyscrapers, and we even started building outside of the valley, and soon our city was populated with over 600,000 people, and by the end of the year, I was sure we would reach a million, and maybe even more. Soon, the city was officially pronounced as our country's capital and gave the name "Yorokobi" which in Japanese meant "joy" which I also thought was misleading since we're in the middle of the war.
My foster parents told me stories of how on Earth during times of war, the armies would recruit people aged eighteen-and-over boys automatically and not giving them a choice if they want to fight or not, and that's exactly what's happening here, and in one year, I'll be unpleasantly forced to fight in this war. That I did not look forward too. The entire time I was hoping the war would have ended by then before I turned eighteen. And guess what? It didn't.
