"Alright, are you absolutely sure you want to do this?" Daisuke noticed my nervous shaking.

"Y-yeah." I stammered.

"Maybe we shouldn't do this." Hanako said, grabbing onto my wrist. "You yourself told us of the risks. We could die or worse!"

"We could die if we don't do this. I don't want either of you getting hurt and-"

"I'll go." Daisuke interrupted.

"Wait, Daisuke-" I began

"I'll go." Daisuke repeated. "If something does happen, you can get Hanako to safety a hell of a lot more efficiently than I could. It's safer this way." He began walking out of the bushes before we could respond.

We both stood there in guilty silence as Daisuke walked away. We both didn't want him to go, but it's something that must be done. A sacrifice. We both watched nervously as he walked into the small village, turn a corner, and disappear out of our sight.

After that, I have no idea how much time had passed. Hanako and I were too guilt-stricken to look at each other. I know we both feared the worst.

Suddenly, an alarm started blaring from the village, and guards were running in every direction, and Hanako and I perked our heads up.

"Let's go!" I seized Hanako's arm and jumped out from the bushes.

"No! I'm not leaving without him!" Hanako screamed.

"I know, neither am I, now let's go!" I led her towards the village when the guards were busy responding to the alarm, and I dashed right past them.

I kept an ear open for any guards yelling out directions to Daisuke's whereabouts. but soon we were discovered, and ended up scaling the entire city. Once I heard a guard yell out Daisuke's location, I picked up a nearby wooden plank and faced the guards chasing us. "Hanako, run! Get to Daisuke! I'll cover you!"

She nodded and ran off, while I distracted the small group of guards chasing us, but more of their allies came and I was overwhelmed, ultimately fleeing to follow Hanako.

We all were split up. Our chances of survival were slim, and I started hyperventilating, a fear of dying rushing through me, and I lost my focus as a guard jumped from behind a corner and grabbed me.

Of course, struggling was no use, and the guard only struck me in the back of my head like I was a pest.  My body went limp, and I could feel blood slowly trickle down my neck. A guard pinned me to the ground while the others ran after Daisuke and Hanako ,and soon, it was silent. I could only hear my raspy breathing, and feel the guard's heavy hands pinning my arms to my back.

"So," I said quietly. "Do you chase fugitives often?"

"Shut up." The guard said. His voice was steady, but innocent.

"Well, that was rude." I said humorously, but was answered by another blow to the head.

"Jeez..." I groaned.

"Stay quiet." He ordered, and then forced me to my feet and began walking me  through the town.

"Where are you taking me?"

"I said shut up!" He snapped.

He toured me all throughout the village, and even passed by areas more than once, so I got a pretty good layout of the village. We were crossing an intersection when I saw two figures running toward us. It was Daisuke and Hanako!

"Takuma!" They yelled, and glared at the guard holding me.

The guard pulled out his sword and held it against my throat. "You will surrender yourselves, or this boy dies. I'm sure you wouldn't want his blood on your young consciences ."
