Walking into the house I see David and Trey sitting on the couches. They both look over at me in unison as I walk through the living room toward the bedroom. Chase is walking in and closing the door when I glance at him and he's giving the boys a warning look. I throw my middle finger in the air at the two idiots on the couch and slam the door to the room as I hear them snickering behind me.
I sit on the bed and stare out the window to the house across the street. I don't know how long I'm watching. How long I'm waiting to see if he will walk out of the house. At some point he will walk out and I will see him. He will be wearing his usual collared shirt with a tie and his dark grey slacks. Will he be smiling? At any point he will have to leave the house and I'll be able to see that he's doing fine without me. I jump as my phone vibrates in my back pocket. Pulling it out my heart leaps when I see Jasey's name.
Jasey: I was right. Ted talked to my mom and she's not sure if it's a good idea to let you stay here.
Jasey: "If she won't follow her father's rules why would she follow ours?" Are her exact words.
Jasey: You're always welcome to come visit us. She just doesn't want to help a situation that won't push you to patch things up with Ted
I see that she's typing again but I switch my phone off and toss it to the side, looking back at my house. I lay back and stare at the ceiling.
"I can't believe she straight up lunged at you." David is laughing.
"Fool shut up the only reason you got a purple nurple is because you were too far to get punched in the face."
"Your eyes look a little bruised. I didn't think she hurt you with how you were laughing."
Trey laughs at that. "I was in shock. Riley, the sweetest girl anyone has ever met finally exploded. First she gets drunk. Then she hits me? Me of all people!"
Chase's voice sounds bored when he chimes in. "She can probably hear everything you're both saying so if you want to see her lose it again, just keep at it."
"What do you think she'll do next?" I hear Trey whisper loudly.
"You're both assholes." I hear Chase respond before I hear the door to the room open. I don't have to look at him to know that his eyes are on me. "Are you okay?"
I sigh closing my eyes. "I think I'm tired. Or bored. What do normal people do on a Sunday afternoon instead of bible study?"
Chase chuckles and sits on the bed next to me leaning back on his elbows, eyes still on my face. "They go out. Or they read things other than the bible. There's other things you can do while you throw your tantrum."
I open my eyes to glare at him and he smiles. The view is amazing. "I'm sorry. Do you want to go find something to do?"
I sit up and look down at him. "Do you think I should try to talk to him?"
He frowns and shrugs. "Are you ready to?"
"I don't think so."
"Then no." He answers plainly.
"I am ready to not have to see you anymore though." I fight my smile and he pushes me gently, playfully.
"You love playing house with me."
I roll my eyes at that and stand from the bed. He quickly sits up taking my hands in his, looking up at me from his sitting position. "Where are you going?"
I step to him so my arms aren't stretched, stepping between his legs to look directly down at him. "You asked if I wanted to go find something to do." I say quietly.
