The shortage of food in Wall Rose could not be resolved. So over 250,000 refugees were sent to fight in the military to reclaim Wall Maria back. But out of all those people who've been sent... Only a few hundred survived. But the sacrifice of all of those lives helped resolve the shortage of food.

Armin sat there, sobbing, holding a hat of one of the soldiers whose life had been lost.

"It's all because of the Titans," said Eren, "If we could kill them all, we would be able to go home."

I stood there against a stone wall next to Mikasa while Eren and Armin were sitting next to each other against the wall in front of us. I was trying to make out what Eren's message was and what he was trying to tell us. But suddenly, he said it.

"Armin, next year I'm going to sign up for cadets training." Eren explained.

Armin gasped in shock and Mikasa sighed.

"I want to get strong to fight those Titans." said Eren.

Armin looked down. "Me too."

"Armin!" Eren was surprised.

"Me too!" Armin shouted.

"I'll go too." said Mikasa.

"Well if you all are going, I'm going too!!" I said while walking forward towards everyone.

"M-Mikasa and Nika! You don't have to go. You said the most important thing was to survive!" Eren stuttered.

"Yes." said Mikasa, "I will join so that you won't die."

Eren stood up and clenched his fists with an angry look on his face.

"All right, together then!" Eren verified.

We all looked at each other. I softly closed my eyes and nodded.

Soon, a year had past and we were all in training.

"104th Cadet Corps Boot Camp starts now! I'm your drill sergeant, Keith Sadies." The sergeant shouted.

"I have no intention of giving you a warm welcome!" He continued, "Right now, you are all nothing but livestock to feed the Titans!! No, even less than livestock. I'M GOING TO BE SPENDING THE NEXT THREE YEARS TEACHING YOU WORTHLESS SCUM!"

We all stood still with our hands behind our backs while the sergeant yelled at us.

"I'll drill into you how to kill those Titans!" He shouted, "In three years, when you stand in front of a Titan, it's up to you to decide if you're still livestock, or are you a Titan killing soldier that will protect humanity!"

"Hey mop-top!" The sergeant called out.

"Sir!" Armin shouted.

"What do they call you, maggot?!" Sergeant asked.

"Armin Arlelt, from Shiganshina, sir!" Armin replied.

"Wow, seriously? Why would your parents curse you... with such a dumb name?!" The sergeant asked.

"Poor Armin." I thought.

"It was my grandfather, sir!" Armin shouted back.

"Cadet Arlelt! Why is a runt like you here?!" The sergeant asked.

"To help humanity overcome the Titans!!" Armin replied.

"That is delightful to hear!" said the sergeant, "You're going to be a great light snack for him!"

"Row three, about face, runt!" The sergeant grabbed Armin's head and turned it around.

"What do you call yourself??" The sergeant asked me.

"Sir! My name is Nika Nakamura from Shiganshina District!" I closed my eyes and shouted.

"I can't hear you!" The sergeant shouted back.

"I'm Nika from Shiganshina!!" I yelled louder.

"Shut up! Nobody cares! Next!" The sergeant yelled.

I watched as the sergeant yelled at everyone. A girl there was sweating. He passed by only some cadets so not all of us had to introduce ourselves.

"WHAT DO WE HAVE OVER HERE???" The sergeant yelled.

"Jean Kirschtein, sir! From the Trost District!" The cadet replied.

"And why are you here, cadet??" The sergeant asked.

"To join the Military Police, sir. The best of the best." said Jean.
