"Time to run some laps, guys!"
You groaned as you trudged towards the door. You hated running more than life. Sure, you exercised almost excessively every single day, but you never ran. That hatred of running was part of the reason you loved volleyball so much: it was all about reflexes instead of just constantly trudging up and down a field or a court.
All of that being said, though, that sure as hell didn't mean you couldn't run. In fact, it was actually quite the opposite; you were fast, and because of that excessive practice, you had an endless amount of stamina. And God help you if you weren't the most stubborn person to ever grace this planet. It was for those reasons that you were at the front of the pack with Hinata and Kageyama right now.
Your eyes widened when you noticed that idiot #2 was starting to run off course.
"Woah, where are you going?!" Tanaka screamed after him.
"I'll get him!" You called behind you before picking up your pace.
"Wait, (L/N)!" You vaguely heard Tanaka's voice call after you, but you pretended that you didn't. Idiot #2 was so named for a reason, and there was no way you were leaving him alone.
"Hinata! Stop! You're gonna get us lost!" You screamed at him breathlessly, but he must have completely zoned out and just kept running as if his life depended on it. You groaned to your self and picked up your pace again, trying desperately to catch up with him. Finally, you were close enough to reach out and grab him by the arm, which seemed to knock him back to his senses.
"Huh? Nobody's back there?" Hinata muttered, confused as he suddenly came to a complete stop. "Is this path the wrong way?"
"OF COURSE IT IS, YOU DUMBASS!" You screamed furiously. "That's what I've been trying to tell you for the past five minutes, but you weren't even listening to me!"
"S-sorry, (L/N)," Hinata blushed in embarrassment, glancing away from you.
You groaned and rubbed your temples tiredly. "Do you even know where we are?" Hinata shook his head. "Great," you scoffed bitterly. "You do know I only just moved here, right? I'm not familiar with the area! What the hell do you expect us to do now, considering we're completely lost?!"
A meow sounded behind you, and Hinata immediately looked over, grateful for anything that might distract you from continuing to yell at him right now. "Hey, look, a red uniform!" Hinata pointed and rushed past you, pretending not to hear your frustrated sigh. "Watcha up to?"
"O-oh... Well, it's just... uh... I'm lost..." You frowned and turned to face the source of the voice, your eyes immediately widening upon seeing what he was wearing. You'd recognize that red uniform anywhere. This kid was from Nekoma. He must've been here for the practice game, then.
"You're lost?" Hinata tilted his head obliviously as you walked over to join them. Quickly, your eyes scanned him up and down. He was on the shorter side, his muscles ever so slightly underdeveloped, and he seemed less than confident. Still, he didn't carry himself like a benchwarmer, and his fingers were calloused. Could he have been a pinch server? He didn't favor either of his arms, though, so probably not. "Are you from out of town?" Hinata's voice brought you back from your little inner monologue. The kid nodded a bit. "Is that a fun game?" Hinata jumped forward, clearly getting way too close for comfort.
You rolled your eyes and grabbed him by the back of his collar to drag him away from the poor boy a little bit. "Sorry about him," you smiled politely. "He doesn't understand boundaries. My name is (M/N) (L/N). Mind telling me yours?" Your sharp eyes danced around his face, looking for even the slightest change in expressions.
