Dahlia observed her surroundings as she continued to walk to the Great Hall. The once glorious castle was now destroyed. Most of it's columns had fallen, making the girl shiver as she held her wand tightly in her hand. The war was far from being over, Dahlia knew that, but for a reason, Voldemort had given them one hour to tend the wounded and dispose of the dead ones with dignity.
Dahlia entered the room seeing almost everyone there, some treating their injuries with Madam Pomfrey and Nurse Wainscott while others were grieving their loved lost one. She spotted the Patil twins crouched near a body, Padma comforting her sister as she bailed her eyes out. Dahlia made her way to the two girls, still not recognising the body. As she got closer, she was able to see the curly blonde hair filled with small ribbons. Her lungs seemed to stop working as she fell to her knees.
"Lav? Lavender?"
Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at her sister's lifeless body. The Patil twins gave her space as Dahlia leaned over her body, laying her head on her chest as she cried like she had never cried before. She felt a comforting hand on her back and immediately let go of her sister's body to hug the figure as tight as she could. For a few minutes they just stayed there before Dahlia was finally able to formulate words again.
"Who did this to her?"
The girl only tightened her grip on her.
"Dahlia..."
Dahlia got out from her hold, still clutching her arms.
"Padma, who did this to her?"
"It was that Greyback werewolf."
Dahlia looked back at her sister's body, tears still in her eyes. Letting go of Padma, she placed a delicate hand on her sister's hair, stroking it gently.
"I'm going to kill him, Lav. Don't worry, you'll have your vengeance."
She felt Padma's hand on her shoulder, making her look up at her.
"Come on, you're bleeding Dahlia."
"I'm fine. Some people need it more than I do. This war is not over yet."
······
Dahlia stood at the Great Hall, hitting Death Eaters with spell after spell. Harry Potter's lesson in fifth year had been put to good use at the battle by every participant in Dumbledore's Army. Hearing a shout coming from behind her, she turned around looking at a big hairy figure being fought on by two Gryffindor boys. She recognised the bigger figure instantly. Clutching her wand in hand, she ran to where the three men were duelling, Greyback with an ugly smile on his face as he was able to avoid another spell one of them had thrown over.
"Can't wait until I'm able to taste your blood. The last girl was delicious."
Hearing those words made Dahlia's blood boil as she raised her wand high, her face in a scowl.
"Stupefy!"
Greyback fell to the floor with a bang. Dahlia made her way closer, her wand held tight in front of her as she looked down at him. For a moment she thought he was unconscious, but as she started to lower her wand, he let out a devilish laugh, holding his stomach in pain.
"You smell like her. That blonde girl. You must taste good as well."
Before she was able to send another spell his way, a light hit him in the face and he finally went to unconsciousness.
"You good?"
She looked to her right where the two boys stood staring at her. She nodded her head, turning around instantly as everyone heard a loud commotion in the middle of the Great Hall. Voldemort and Harry Potter stood there, eyeing each other as they talked, wands both ready to attack. Harry demanded that everyone stayed out of the way, for this was his battle to finish. Everyone stared at the two of them, worrying who would be the first to make a move. For a while, Dahlia thought that Voldemort might finally be successful. The green light coming out of Voldemort's wand connected with the red one from Harry's and in the blink of an eye, Voldemort fell to the floor. Lifeless.
