I was utterly shocked when my parents had invited both me and River to the monthly dinner my brothers and I attend. I had warned River that the table would be filled with both Filipino and Polish food, he simply waved me off. I had been in and out of his apartment caring for him until he got back to better health, much to the looks of Celeste.
"my god, I hate how I missed dinner," Celeste says angrily as she shrugs off her jacket. Celeste often joins us for monthly dinner.
"Don't worry there are leftovers, mom can clearly pack some up for us too." I shrug.
"So, how's the boyfriend doing with the males?" She questions me and I point to the living room on the other side of the wall beside us. "Well then let's eavesdrop." She says with a wicked smile and pulls me to the entrance and we peak in.
A hockey game was on playing on the flat screen that was hanging above the fireplace, "Belle has definitely given me a run for my money there's no doubt there," River says with a smile.
"She can give anyone she wants a run for their money son, It's who she is" Dad chuckles.
"Belle mentioned something about you helping her creatively for her new book, I suppose it's working since she's written about three chapters now," Callahan says.
"Creatively in our minds means taking her on the weirdest dates I can, just to bring her out of her comfort zone. But yea, I guess it is working, we haven't done much lately though, I've been stuck at work." River says.
"weird dates? like how?" Mason asks. River quickly gives my brothers and father a rundown of what we've done so far.
"Wow, he's good at giving you the creative inspiration that's for sure," Celeste whispers to me and I lift a shoulder.
"Belle? Is Celeste here?" Mom yells from the kitchen. Callahan quickly glances at the entrance and before the two of us could duck away he spots us and my eyes widen and my brother laughs loudly.
"what the hell are you?" Mason begins and I quickly pull Celeste and we rush into the kitchen.
"What are you two doing?" Mom eyes us, we laugh.
"Doing what we do best," I muse as Mom hands Celeste a plate and my best friend sits down at the island.
"Oh yes, eavesdropping perhaps?" Mom guesses.
"Yea" Celeste and I answer together. Mom shakes her head at us and chuckles.
"Belle go call in the boys for coffee and dessert please," Mom says and I nod, I walk over to the living room.
"Boy's mom says coffee and dessert," I announce leaning on the wall, quickly my brothers stand up and rush out, dad and River stand up slowly and Dad turns the tv off.
"the Rangers losing dad?" I tease as the two walks over to me.
"Don't get me started dear," He sighs annoyed, and walks past. I chuckle and look to River.
"I hope they didn't press too hard against you," I joke and he shakes his head.
"Nah, I can hold my own, you do know my father." He shrugs and steps up in front of me.
"you sure, because I can give a stern talking to them if I need to," I muse and he chuckles.
"Don't worry," He says and wraps an arm around me as we turn towards the kitchen.
"My god we thought you got lost in each other's lips or something," Celeste mumbles out chewing on her food. Callahan chokes on his coffee from across her.
