I gulp as his hand tightens on my dress, "I didn't think this would be your sort of thing." I say glancing at him briefly.
"You mean the classic New York galas? You do remember my parents I introduced you to a few months back right?" He tilts his head, teasing me.
I roll my eyes, "no the slow dancing bit." I correct him.
He leans closer, his lips hovering above my ear and I gulp again, "life's too short to not slow dance with the people you love."
He leans back and I look away, I would have genuinely believed him if it weren't for this stupid believing lie we had conjured up. And I was the fool for shaking his hand.

She was an aspiring author, with a New York Best Seller under her but Belle's struggling to find the middle ground for her next book whilst riding the high of being on the list of best sellers.
