"damn your view is nice, no wonder you put your desk here," Stanley muses as he stands by my dark wooden desk with his mug. I smile.
"It's actually better at night, personally," I tell him.
He chuckles highly as he glances back at me, "you a night owl like River then huh?" he asks and I lift a shoulder.
"Of course she is, they have weird midnight picnics," Monroe says coming back into the main area of my apartment. Even though River had told me she was busy, I still texted her once he left and extended the invitation to her.
Even despite me being sick, I felt better today, and the company of the twins was much needed, I also decided to do a simple lunch and make a taco board. Simple and easy.
"you really didn't have to invite us over Belle," Monroe says as she helps me carry things towards my makeshift dining table.
"She's right, you really didn't," Stanley nods and I wave them off.
"I know you two have been having a tough time and I care about you two so," I shrug as we all sit down.
"a tough time is probably the generous option," Stanley muses. I watch Monroe shake her head.
"my god for once can you stop being sarcastic," She sighs.
"I'm known for my sarcasm," Stanley deadpans interrupting her.
"Well stop!" She exclaims, Stanley and I both look at her. "honestly Stanley just stop," She sighs. I glance at Stanley because by the looks of it Monroe looked like she was on the verge of tears.
Stanley moves closer to Monroe and wraps an arm around her shoulders, "Mon," he says softly, "Hey," he says again and she looks up at him, "I'm sorry, I know I've made it rough for anyone, I'm sorry," He says and she chokes on a sob with a small laugh.
"I'm sorry I snapped,"
Stanley shakes his head, "you had every right too, I know you've been stressed with school and me being an ass lately isn't helping," he says.
"Honestly, why do you have to be such a rebel and trouble child?" she asks wiping a tear away. Stanley smiles.
"I keep everyone on their toes," he shrugs, and his twin smiles, "I am sorry," he says again before leaning forward and kissing her cheek, she smiles and leans into him.
"you must think we're crazy now huh?" Monroe asks me as Stanley pulls her into his side.
I smile at the twins across me and shake my head, "no, not at all,"
Stanley chuckles, "Honestly Belle if I didn't see how in love you and River are, I would never have thought you'd stay with this awful family for so long,"
I chuckle lightly and try to hide my blush at the fact they think River and I are in love, "so? who wants soft or shell tacos?" I question moving on from the subject.
"shell," the twins respond together.
Once we had our plates full and either a beer or a glass of wine in front of us, conversation flowed easily, mostly asking about work and school for Monroe. I had found out that Stanley is an advertising sales agent, and he loves it. By the way, he describes his job it reminded me of River and how he talks about his job.
Monroe, on the other hand, is in her junior year of med school and besides the fact med school is stressful, she loves it. I could never be in school that long, I hated being behind a desk, and thinking about becoming a doctor is not it for me but I knew she was loving it either way.
