"So how did you guys come up with this costume idea?" Celeste asks as I shove bobby pins into my hair to keep in the old nurse's hat.
I shrug, "he was going through old articles and I saw them sitting on his kitchen counter," I say.
"I think it's cute and imagine River in a sailor's outfit, hot," she nods slowly and I laugh.
"you have a boyfriend," I confirm and she shrugs. A knock comes from our door and I step away from the small hallway mirror to open it, River quickly slips in.
"Trick O'Treaters are coming in fast," he chuckles, and before I could comment on his outfit, I grab the candle bowl. The group coming towards me was a group of four-year-olds and I couldn't help but smile as I crouch down to their eye level.
After giving the kids their candy, I stand up straighter now and smile at the parents who accompanied their kids around the complex. They smile back before following their children. As soon as I shut the door with my heel, which I knew was gonna give me blisters because I hate heels, Celeste awes, "aw you guys are gonna look so cute," she gushes and I roll my eyes.
"you can always come with us Celeste," River shrugs as I walk over to them.
"Nah, I'm gonna watch Halloween Town and hand out candy, maybe next year," She waves her arms. Henry was out of town for business so she offered to hand out candy this year.
"I can't believe you are actually turning down a club Celeste, this isn't your character at all," I chuckle.
"Well I'm also on my period," She shrugs and flops onto the couch, I laugh loudly as River turns to me slowly, with of course red cheeks.
"anyways, ready to go Bells?" he asks. I nod.
"Honestly you might be carrying me home at this point River, my feet are simply not meant for heels," I say as he takes long strides towards the door with a laugh.
"You hear boots a lot," he comments and I whack.
"A girl's best friend is her Doc Martens," I shrug.
"Heard that," Celeste calls out as I wave at her and River shuts the door behind us.
"I guess it is a good thing you don't have a typical nine to five day job with the whole pencil skirts and shit," River muses placing a hand on my lower back as we move down the hallway.
"Exactly," I nod, "the pencil skirts and heels and even stay at home wife isn't my character,"
"Yea, clearly," He nods as we enter the elevator.
"Can you hold my phone? I'm worried the pockets in my dress won't hold it," I say handing it to him.
"And you think these pants will?" He exclaims jokingly, showing me his sailor pants. I roll my eyes but he takes it anyway.
"Oh my god, when the hell did you take this?" He asks showing me my lock screen and it was the picture I took of him the day at the strand when I found him reading Narnia.
"I could say the same about yours," I muse and he nudges me. I watch as he shoves my phone into his pocket. I reach up and fix the tie he had on it.
"So what are the twins doing?" I ask as the elevator opens and we step out.
"Mon's studying she has midterms soon, and Stanley well he has the same idea as us but still the mind of a twenty-one-year-old so,"
"He'll be pissed drunk?" I muse and he nods.
"What about your brothers?" He asks as we exit the apartment complex.
"I think Callahan is having a boy's night at his apartment and well, you'll be surprised but Mason thrives for Halloween," I tell him.
