Dear Sophie,

I remember the first time I met you. I had just moved in and everything seemed so new and my mom and my dad were talking about where everything was going to go and I didn't want to be there anymore. So I went into the backyard and sat down, I didn't see you right away, but when I did, I didn't realize you were going to end up being my best friend...

Or how much I was going to fall in love with you.

You were the first person I had met and you let me join you in the tree, I don't remember what we talked about, but I remember thinking you were funny. The wind was blowing pretty loud when you told me your name, but I was too shy to ask you again. So I just called you tree girl. You know that already anyway.

The first day of school, I wanted to pretend to be sick so I didn't have to go, but you had seen me walking down the sidewalk and you ran up to meet me. You walked me to school, and made sure I sat next to you. You made me your friend even though I didn't really know your name. Sorry about that by the way. I know your name now if that counts for anything.

There were all the times in Elementary that I remember of us, I remember the field trip day when we got lost and Mrs. Henderson got mad at us. Apparently we weren't supposed to go into the aquarium alone, if I could go back though I would still do it. You loved looking at all the fishes surrounding us and that's something that no amount of trouble we got into will make me regret. I remember you shoving a book in my face one day and then ranting to me about why we should have a Take Your Pet to School day, pointing at the part in the book that was talking about Take Your Pet to School day. I know you still stand by the fact that that day should exist.
