Reunion

noun

1. an instance of two or more people coming together again after a period of separation.

----------------------------------------

I stood frozen on spot, everything from that night with the call came running back to me. The pain and the loss hitting me and almost knocking me to my knees. Dawn was standing in front of me, her hair tied back in a loose bun, staring at me with a big smile. I couldn't smile back, I felt the physical ache in my bones that I had felt that night when she told me she was already gone.

I wanted to fall to the ground, to disappear completely. Actually I wanted Michael, I wanted him back by my side to help me now. I needed him now, with his hugs and his warmth, but I just felt cold staring at the girl who left me.

"I can't believe you're here," Dawn murmured breathlessly, looking like she wanted to hug me.

"Wait you're Sophia? The Sophia?" Pluto asked, looking between Dawn and I. Pluto and Dawn's friends were now observing me again, trying to match me up to what Dawn had probably told them.

"Dawn?" I asked again, not really believing she was standing in front of me. Dawn was still smiling, stepping towards me and wrapping me up in a hug.

"God, I missed you," She mumbled into my neck. I stood there, not knowing what to do, realizing that since Dawn had left, she'd never called me, never asked me how things were after she left. She didn't know what happened after that night, with Michael and I, she didn't know any of this.

"I h-have to go," I stuttered, pushing away from Dawn and walking away quickly. I turned a corner, so I was out of view and began to run. Trying to run away from the girl who left me. It was kinda funny, when she had left, I had wanted nothing more than her to come back to me and now that she had, I was the one leaving.

The truth is, I left a long time ago. I'd fallen in love with Michael.

I ran, stumbling on my own feet, but never falling, I was done with falling and breaking. I arrived at the door to my dorm room, kicking the Twilight book away from the door, so the door slammed behind me as I walked in. I was closed off from the other students, from Dawn. Landing on my bed, I pulled my phone out from my backpack.

Sophie: I need you

Mikey: What happened ??

Mikey: Are you okay ?

Mikey: Sophie ?? What's happening

I didn't answer back as I was met by frantic banging on my room door. I didn't get up from my bed, not wanting to face Dawn, not now. Not at all, really.

"The Twilight book was there for a reason," Pluto yelled through the door.

"Oh, sorry," I apologized, rushing up to the door to let my roommate in, Pluto was staring at me incredulously. She walked into our room, sitting on her bed to face me.

"Explain," She demanded.

"I honestly don't know. I wasn't expecting to see her here,"

"If you were expecting to see her that would have been quite the guess." Pluto raised her eyebrow. "What happened between you two? Dawn always talked about you so fondly."

"She left,"

"I've pieced together that much, considering I wouldn't have met her had she not moved to my town in Grade Eleven," Pluto told me, crossing her legs. "If she left, it would have hurt then, now wouldn't you be thrilled that she's back? Unless, the whole prospect of having her near again after having come to terms that she was gone is overwhelming in it's entirety?"
