"Call Doctor Spencer to the ER"

My head was buzzing and everything seemed so distant to me. From the bodyguards and the paramedic lifting David into the ambulance. To the media showing up and taking pictures. They were even surrounding Kenny and I. The body guard brought us back to the car and shielded us from everyone. I hid Kenny's face away from everyone as they started shouting her name along with some questions at us.

"Call Doctor Spencer to the ER"

I was still holding onto Kenny when we walked into the hospital. I was trembling but I managed to calm Kenny down as they brought us to an empty waiting room. I was still holding onto her but everything seemed so distant. I closed my eyes for a minute and all I could see was David's face.

We have been sitting in this private room for about five minutes since we have been escorted into the hospital. I watched as they carried David away as he was immediately surrounded by doctors and nurses.

I held Kenny in my arms as we sat there. I was still shaken up as the image of an unconscious David flashed in my mind repeatedly. My mind was all over the place, I was tapping my feet on the floor and I was rubbing Kenny’s back. I kept looking around the colorless space that only had white coaches and about two plants. I could hear my heart beating as if it was sitting right by my ears. I had no idea what to do or who to call.

“Miss Sofia” I was pulled from my thoughts as I watched Mason and Sofia rushed over to us. Kenny jumped from the couch and Sofia pulled her into a hug. I sat there as I watched Kenny explain what happened. Mason was sitting beside me but I was still looking at Kenny.

“Hey” He whispered but I started playing with my fingers.

I just wanted to know if David was okay. I just wanted to see him. I just needed a doctor to come out here and tell me that everything was going to be okay and that he is doing okay. I didn’t know what to say to anyone. It was an accident and he was trying to make sure that Kenny wasn’t the one that ended up in the ditch. Instead, he was the one being carried into the ER, unconscious and bleeding.

“Riley, are you okay?” Mason touched my hand and looked at where he was holding my hand. He stopped me from interlacing my fingers with each other. He was holding onto my hands firmly as I didn’t stop the impulsive action. “I’ll go see what’s happening but I think you need to see a doctor too”.

“No! no, I am doing okay. Just find out if David’s okay. I just to see if he is okay” I finally met Mason’s gaze. He squeezed my hand before he finally got up and disappeared around the corner. I sighed as Sofia and Kenny sat beside me.

“He is going to be okay” Sofia was talking to both Kenny and I. Sofia took my hand into hers as she hugged Kenny. “He did it to make sure that she was okay. Its nobody’s fault” She said as she looked at Kenny.

Kenny blamed herself for David’s fall?

“Oh no baby!” I touched Kenny’s cheek and she started crying. There was a sharp pain in my chest and the tears that was threatening but didn’t come out finally rolled down my cheeks. I pulled her into my arms and hugged her as she cried. “Sweetheart, he is going to be okay and nobody is blaming you for what happened. He did what he did because he loves you so much”.

And I am pretty sure he would do it again.

We sat there in silence and Kenny’s sobs were slowly becoming quiet. I kissed the top of her head over and over as she held onto my blouse tightly. I glanced over at Sofia who was watching us closely.
