Chapter 7

The next weeks, Jungkook notices that their relationship gets weirder with each day. Whenever he's at school, talking with Namjoon or Hoseok, Jimin will just sidle up and wrap an arm around his waist, or peck his cheek in greeting and proceed to say something about them "just being friends".

"What're you doing?". Jungkook asks as he sits down next to Jimin in the living room.

"The WiFi cut in my room.". Jimin explains.

"Oh. Same. Can I have one?". He asks, pointing at Jimin's bag of gummy worms.

"Go ahead.".

Before Jungkook can take the last one, Jimin picks it up, pops it in Jungkook's mouth and takes a bite from the other end.

Jungkook eyes widen as he meets Jimin's, stammering slightly.

"What-".

Jimin moves closer, and just as Jungkook closes his eyes, leaning in, expecting Jimin's lips on his, Jimin pulls away.

"Sorry. Forgot that we're just friends.". He says, smirking.

"Sure as hell doesn't look like it.". Jungkook's mom comments, rolling her eyes.

One day, before school, Jimin insists on doing Jungkook's makeup for him.

"Enough of that bare-faced, natural shit. We're extra, sweetie.".

"Why are we even friends?". Jungkook asks, groaning. "I don't want to go to school in, like, red lipstick.".

"Pink lipstick, then?".

"No lipstick.".

"Jungkook, stop it with the toxic masculinity! Let me do your makeup, just for once!".

"Fine. But only because I trust your decisions and you look good in makeup.".

"You think I look good?".

"Well, yeah.".

"We're just friends.".

Jimin wakes up late the next day and hurries down to the kitchen, smiling as he sees Jungkook already at the stove.

"Good morning!". He trills, hugging him from behind while Jungkook lets out a stifled noise.

"You scared me!".

Jimin pouts, resting his head on the nape of Jungkook's neck.

"This seems sort of couple-y.". Jungkook remarks.

"We're just friends. Unless you have anything against that.".

"I- I don't.". Jungkook says with a sigh. "But can you stop doing really flirty stuff and then adding "we're just friends."?. It's frustrating.".

"It sounds like you have more against me quoting your own statement than flirting.".

Jungkook falls silent, and thinks about that for the rest of the week.

"Jungkook, Truth or Dare?". Jimin asks, when Jungkook comes home on Saturday.

"Uh, Truth.".

"Would you rather kiss me or Taehyung?".

"You.".

"Then do it.".

Jungkook sighs.

"Dare would have been the same, right?".

Jimin beams.
