Chapter 9

I like you.

No. Too simple. It has to be more... dramatic? No. Meaningful. That's it.

Jungkook has been pacing around his room for an hour now, trying to think of a good way to confess. Well, not that he's going to do it now. But he needs to be prepared. And it's somewhat pleasing to fantasize that they're actually confessing to each other.

He's been debating whether or not to tell Jimin how he feels for ages now. Maybe if he tells him he'll also realize he likes him too, or he'll feel bad for him. Yeah, Jungkook knows how desperate he sounds.

Of course it's safer to just stay friends, or give in when Jimin wants him to, but he's never been one to take it easy.

Maybe they'll be watching a movie like they do every Friday and Jimin will lean over and he can kiss him and then get his heart broken when he's rejected.

That'd be almost movie-like, Jungkook thinks with a contented sigh. If he's going to get rejected, he might as well do it in style, steal a kiss before he goes.

Maybe he'll say "I love you". It's impactful. Probably true, too. He's literally going crazy, he realizes, as someone knocks on his door and he jumps up, running towards it.

"Uh, you okay, Kook?". Jimin asks. .

"Why wouldn't I be?".

Jimin laughs, and sits down on his bed.

"We haven't done anything together in ages.". He cocks his head and smiles. "Let's go somewhere today. Or just stay in my room and we'll watch a movie.".

Jungkook nods eagerly, already following Jimin to his room.

They're both on his bed, Jimin leaning against Jungkook, Jungkook's arm over his shoulders, when Jimin pauses the movie.

"I'm not gonna be there next week.". Jimin says, and Jungkook frowns. He wanted to spend the winter vacation together, especially Christmas and New Year's.

"I'll be back for Christmas, but I'm not sure how much earlier.".

Jungkook nods, trying not to feel too dissapointed.

"Where are you going?".

"I told you that I started working at my dad's company, right?".

"Um, no.".

"Oh. Well, I started working there and we're going on a business trip in Japan.".

"Oh.".

Jimin smiles awkwardly, and resumes the movie.

"I'm sorry.".

"Don't be.".

The next day, Jimin leaves with his father around noon, and hugs Jungkook as the driver puts his suitcase in the back of the car.

"I'll miss you.". Jimin says, smiling coyly as Jungkook blushes.

"You'll only be gone for a few weeks.".

"I said what I said.".

Jungkook laughs and pushes him into the car, rolling his eyes.

"Whatever. It's not like you're leaving forever.".

"You'll miss me, right?".

"No.".

He ends up missing Jimin more than he expected. It's only one week in, and he's on Jimin's bed (Jimin offered to let him use his room since it has a TV and speakers), waiting for a message from him.
