Chapter 26

"I got coffee!" Jimin calls, swinging the doors to the office building open, and Jungkook looks up from his desk with a smile.

"Thanks, baby. Did you get my latte?"

"Of course I did." Jimin retorts with a grin. "And espresso for everyone else, right?"

One of the women working at a computer near Jungkook nods and smiles, thanking him quietly.

"Jimin, your boyfriend is better at this job than you are!" She calls, and Jimin groans.

"I'm terrible at business, amazing at coffee runs."

"You'll make an amazing housewife." Jungkook remarks, standing up to pull Jimin into a quick hug, and Jimin hums in agreement.

"Only if you become a rich businessman. But we're not moving to the suburbs, got it?"

"You can be the rich husband who gets his card filled up every month and goes to galas, how about that?"

"Bet."

"But won't you need to take care of the kids?"

"Come on, kids love me. Look at your sister."

"You bribed her with candy and chicken, Min."

Jimin shrugs.

"It worked."

"You said you never wanted kids a few nights ago."

"True, then we'd only be able to fuck when they're at the babysitters."

Jungkook groans, and Jimin bursts out laughing at his expression.

"I was joking!"

"You were not."

"I wasn't." Jimin admits, and Jungkook laughs softly.

"Let's go out when I'm done." He says as he's turned around, and Jimin perks up at that.

"Yes, let's."

Jimin plops down on one of the beanbags, eagerly watching Jungkook type up something.

"You done, yet?"

"Nope." Jungkook answers absently. "Give me ten more minutes."

"Ten minutes?"

"Yes."

Jimin pulls his phone out, opening a timer, and sets in ten minutes. "If you're not done once the timer's over, you're paying." 

"Fifteen minutes?"

Jimin raises an eyebrow sceptically.

"I see how it is. Your prioritizing a side job over your amazing, hot, loving boyfriend. Cruel."

"I'm not prioritizing shit-" Jungkook protests and groans. "Fine. I'll finish this some other day. Let's go."

Jimin is happily swinging their entwined fingers back and forth as the two make their way down the bustling shopping street, occasionally pulling the high collar of his coat up to protect himself from the cold.

"Koo?"

"Yeah?" Jungkook asks as he tries to balance the bags of clothes on one arm.

"Are you happy these days?" Jimin asks softly, and Jungkook frowns.

"What wouldn't I be? I have a hot boyfriend, school's almost over and I have a good part-time job."

"All... you know ..." Jimin makes a placid hand gesture. "All this shit. My family. Us. All this drama."

"It's fine." Jungkook answers with a shrug. "I never expected my life to be easy, it was always a given that I'd have to fight for something. I know, it sucks, but we can get through it."

Jimin hums softly in agreement, his hand tightening around Jungkook's.

They both fall silent, the only sound coming from the crowds around them, and the rhythmic sound of their shoes hitting the pavement. That is, until Jimin's phone vibrates in his jacket pocket.

"Fucking hell," Jimin complains, reaching for it. "This better not be the same shit as always."

With that, Jimin rummages around his pocket, fishes his phone out, and opens the notification.

"It's the same shit as always." he clarifies.

Jungkook nods slowly, unable to say anything except for oh and stays silent, watching as Jimin's face falls.

"Uh, what happened?" Jungkook asks.

Jimin sighs, handing him the phone. The contact is saved as sperm donor, so Jungkook assumes it's Jimin's father.

The family gathering is in a week. Your grandmother will be discussing your marriage. Be on your best behavior, and you better not embarrass me.

"Oh." Jungkook mutters, practically frozen in his steps/ .

"Yeah. I'm sorry about this, Koo."

"Don't worry about it." Jungkook replie tentatively. "It's not your fault."

"Still feels like it." Jimin sighs.

Jungkook turns around, pouting as he reaches for Jimin's arm. "Don't say that. We'll come up with a plan later, and just enjoy ourselves now."
