The next day, Raymond was whisked away to France, and Italy, for two weeks , and it was mid-July. Summer was really nothing without Stacey, and her dog, Lucky was given to Raymond.
In her will ,she had stated for Lucky to be with Raymond ,his new best friend. Raymond was homesick, with sadness and depression brought on by anxiety.
He took his antidepressants and made a face as he swallowed them. Stacey, where are you when I need you, he wondered to himself.
"Raymond, come on, sweetheart." Mrs . Glass called out to Raymond, interrupting his thoughts and bringing him back down to Earth. He felt like a recluse and he felt like a depressed young good for nothing boy.
"I know, Mom, I know." Raymond stated calmly. Whatever, he thought, miserably. Raymond and Stacey were supposed to have taken this vacation together. Rented a cabin, probably be at the waterfront for a while, rode gondolas together. Life wasn't fair.
Life is not fair, he thought, tossing a rock as it skipped across the ocean and each ripple it made was bigger and bigger, as he watched another day go by, and end.
Just like the week before, it started to rain. That's how he felt without Stacey. Alone. Miserable. Unhappy.
How am I going to survive senior year without you, Stacey, he wondered to himself as he walked back into his hotel, watching the sunset above the Eiffel Tower.
"Come on, Raymond." Mr. Glass said, "We're getting ready to go and eat dinner at the restaurant downstairs."
"Stacey would have wanted you to be happy." Mrs. Glass said, empathetic.
"Really?'' Raymond said, depressed. "Because it seems to be I'll never get through this."
"Yes, you will." Mr. Glass said ,opening his menu.
Raymond closed his eyes and went to his happy place, the soccer fields where he could kick his frustrations away. Just him and the net and the audience cheering him on. Raymond smiled until an annoying waiter interrupted his happy thoughts.
"What do you want to eat?'' The waiter demanded, with a flourish. Raymond never met anyone so rude and inconsiderate before. Well, I never, he thought...
"I'll have the mashed potatoes instead of the salad, and I'd like to have extra sauce on my meat, if you don't mind. Thank you.'' Raymond said, handing back his menu. I'm not sure why I'm even out at all, he thought, as Stacey would've been here if it wasn't for that good for nothing asthma.
"Excuse me for a moment." Raymond told his parents and hurried out of the restaurant. Don't give those thoughts the time of day, he thought, breathing and using the exercises from yoga.He would use his yoga techniques whenever he felt stressed and anxious. Better than using pills everyday for the rest of my life.
He took a couple of more breathes and walked back into the restaurant, calmly. I'm not even eighteen yet, and I've already become a freak on pills, he thought, walking back inside. Just enjoy the food, he thought as he was in a lush paradise in a foreign country and it was such an amazing experience.
So, why don't I feel any better? Raymond wondered to himself, eating his dinner. It tasted great, and the view was spectacular, however, he felt sick to his stomach without Stacey.
Mourning for his loss, he tried to cut himself under the table, making it look like an accident...
