As they walked, they came across a large mountain. Allison appeared exhausted; both mentally and physically.
"Come on," Grim urged, "We're almost there."
But Ally barely moved. He groaned in annoyance, as he scooped her back up. Only then did he feel a bit of sympathy. She was a child, after all, and has never had to do such an intense, life-or-death event.
As they walked, they came across a cave and entered. Water dripped from the ceiling, and the cave was lined with crystals and gems of all colors. Grim hummed a melody as he advanced, only stopping when the cave opened up. They were in the middle of a giant stadium, full of lost souls as the audience. Grim stopped, and set down Allison. In front of them was Solomon, wearing the same armor. However, it was much shinier, as if it was brand new.
"Allison Grace!" Solomon's voice boomed, "In order to pass on and enter the afterlife, you must complete the last trial, and fight me!"
Ally went pale, staring at him. As if on cue, she grabbed her daggers. Grim quickly stepped in.
"Allison, you are far too young for this! I am ending this immediately."
"I can do this, Grim. It's okay."
Before he could object, Allison ran at Solomon. Sparks flew as their weapons collided, yet the small girl was flung like she was a ragdoll. Allison groaned in pain, before scrambling and throwing herself out of the way as Solomon charged, causing him to impact into the wall so hard it cracked.
The two watched their every move, like two wolves circling each other as if about to fight. It was a standoff, and Grim couldn't intervene.
Allison charged once again, only for a sword to be driven straight through her stomach.
"NO!" Grim screamed. His hood flared up like the hood of a cobra, his scythe glowing red as he flung himself toward the pathetic armored soul.
Pathetic.
Kill him.
Send him to Hell.
Grim's memory after that was fuzzy. All he recalled was him fighting Solomon. . As he opened his eyes, he saw Solomon's body on the floor, cut in half.
"You. . Win." Solomon Croaked.
Grim stared at him. Before running over to Allison and hugging her tight. He felt as though his heart was squeezing and twisting, as if he wanted to cry. All he knew was that he was just glad she was safe and sound.
Just then, a bright staircase appeared. Above it was a bright, pastel blue sky, lined with clouds and rays of sunshine.
The stairway to Heaven.
