I guess I'm a misogynist

Over the years, I've been called many things. The bridge between the human and spirit world, the avatar, the last air bender, colony slob, Bonzu pippenpaddle-( okay I forgot the rest of it), Kuzon, Twinkletoes, a simple monk, a goofy kid, the world's savior, the fancy dancer, you get the idea. Most of the names have been given to me my dear friend Toph, the broth- I mean sister I never had. You can understand my shock when she called me a misogynist.

"What?" I asked wrinkling my brow.

I shifted in my chair, sitting up straighter, while Toph laid back leisurely in her desk chair. We were sitting in her office at the Republic City official Police station. She of course had her (smelly) feet on her desk and picked her nose, not seeming to offer any more context to back up her ridiculous claim.

"So you still talk to Zuko, but not Katara. Idk man, seems like you're taking the boy's side."

My mouth felt dry as I considered her words.

"It's simpler than that Toph, I didn't date Zuko, or give up cosmic energy for him. I mean it's still awkward but not as awkward."

Toph shrugged and I hope this meant she agreed, since I wasn't going to take getting called a misogynist very lightly, after all my most powerful past life was a woman ( sorry Roku).

"Besides it's not as if I don't talk to Katara." I added. Toph turned to face my direction( or where she thought I was at least) and smirked.

"When's the last time you spoke to her?" She quipped.

I hated that I had to actually stop and think about it.

"Sokka's birthday four months ago. I asked her to pass the salt."

"Wow, you're back to being besties!" She said unenthusiasticly, waving jazz hands.

I snorted in response.
"As if you are the queen of breakups."

I remember walking to the police station and  finding four overturned desks and overall chaos/damage. Three of Republic City's finest were cowering in a corner, while there was a little trail of  destruction leading to Toph's office. Turns out Toph's boyfriend suggested they take a break. Toph handled it so well, he quit his job and moved to Ba Sing Se.

Toph nodded her head towards the the wall displaying a beautiful painting of Gao Ling. Toph didn't even like art ( if you could read my thoughts she'd be waving her fingers in front of her eyes), the purpose was to cover up a whole in the wall, that she had made.

"Look all I'm saying is if you two were actually friends, you would've asked her first. I know I'm the world's best earth bender."

I nodded my head, in truth I did ask Toph because she was extremely qualified.

"But for a two man operation, I'm not your girl.  If we fly or get on a boat, I won't even be able to see. If ya need to destroy something, I'm your girl, but this mission needs more than just my amazing strength and intelligence. You know who you should've asked."

I sighed. I hated when Toph was right. But she had scared her ex boyfriend off to Ba Sing Se, she had it much easier. If only Katara could disappear to South Pole or something.

"So the answer is no?"

"Sorry twinkle toes, I'm a chief of police, I run this fucking city. I can't go on any more missions for while, and this one isn't for me. I know I'm your first choice, and I know Zuko will be your second, but you're making a mistake. Their is someone you should bring, and you could fuck this whole thing up by taking the wrong person."

"Yeah yeah, see you later Toph." I grumbled as I made my way out.

Before stepping out I hesitated knowing she was standing up behind me. I turned back around and gave her a hug which she returned( but briefly) before clearing her throat.

"It's a damn good thing you turned around Aang, if you had left for a dangerous mission without giving me a hug I would've killed you myself."

I laughed a small laugh before walking outside. I said a small goodbye to Republic City before hopping on Appa. Next destination, the fire nation.

This is short and I wrote it at 2am. Anyways I'm giving Toph unlimited swearing access here
