A/N: Since I got three votes after I posted the Prologue, so enjoy the early chapter :)
"Shadowblaze! Shadowblaze! Shadowblaze!" The cats of Shadowclan yowled.
The new warrior drank in the praise in their voice. He was the first new warrior in two moons, since the senior apprentice that should have been made a warrior died of greencough. Shadowblaze made his way down into the clearing getting congratulated by his clanmates and shy loving looks from the younger she-cats. Shadowbaze just averted his gaze from the purring she-cats, ignoring them. He didn't want a mate or kits to distract him from his warrior duties.
A dark ginger she-cat came up to him. In a small voice she mewed, "Congratulations Shadowblaze, Shadowclan is lucky to have you." She paused and stared at the ground. "Would you like to go on a short walk with me?"
Shadowblaze didn't want to hurt the she-cat's feelings, so he agreed to join her. The two cats went out of camp and padded along the pine trees in deathly silence, careful not to run into the three very hostile kittypets. The kittypets usually kept to their own territory, but often stirred trouble, and Shadowblaze wasn't in the mood to tear their fur.
Shysong looked like she wanted to say something to the black tom, but didn't, keeping the eerie silence that hung in the air like a frozen branch. Shadowblaze would have liked to start a short conversation, but didn't know what to talk about.
"So Shadowblaze," Shysong started, actually being a little outspoken. "Do you like any of those cooing she-cats?"
Shadowblaze was taken back by the she-cats question and burst of confidence, but quickly recovered from it. Shysong looking amused by his reaction to the question and padded on. "So are you actually going to answer me? Or are you going to stand there with that dumbfounded look on your face," Shysong giggled.
Shadowblaze trying to collect his dwindling dignity answered, "Sorry Shysong I was just sort of surprise at your sudden burst of confidence and outspokenness."
"Well I'm like this with cats I feel like I can trust."
"You trust me already?"
"Is there any reason I shouldn't?" Shysong was teasing of course, but it came off like a challenge to Shadowblaze.
"Is there reasons why I should trust you?" He asked trying to level the playing field.
Shysong, knowing exactly what she did, took the challenge. "I think I asked you a question first, that wasn't quite answered."
"No there isn't a reason why you shouldn't trust me, I was just taken back by your suddenness of trust, that's all," Shadowblaze answered.
"Well maybe you shouldn't judge a cat by it's pelt," Shysong simply meowed and headed towards camp.
Shadowblaze was utterly dumbfounded and curious about this she-cat. He had never been so confused with she-cats. Not wanting to push the matter he just padded towards camp as well, making an effort not to catch up with Shysong.
When he got back to camp the sunhigh patrol had just came back and they looked like they had urgent news.
"Riverclan has moved their scent markers into our territory," Redscar growled.
"How dare those fish faces move into our territory!" Nightpaw snarled her neck fur bristling.
"They won't, don't worry Nightpaw," Jaypool soothed the very angry apprentice. Seeing Morningstar make her way into the clearing she said, "Morningstar, what do you suggest we do?"
"We will attack!" Redscar exclaimed.
"Pipe down Redscar!" Poolsong commanded. "You're not leader!"
