Blazingfire ran as far as her paws pushed her, her ginger pelt fluffed up in fear and her blue eyes pools of worry. She ducked under the undergrowth and brambles snagged her thick pelt, she winced but kept running tears pooling her eyes. She wasn't paying attention to what was in front of her and she almost hit a rock, but sharply swerved to avoid it. Spitting crossly that she was mouse brained enough to almost hit a slab of rock.
Please don't let my brother get hurt, I already lost my mother and father. Blazingpaw kept racing to their border with Shadowclan. Please, I'm begging you Starclan, it's not his time.
The dark ginger she-cat finally got to the border and she saw a border skirmish. She rushed in and took a tom twice as big. The burly tom didn't even notice her before his stomach was gushing and deep scores across his flank. The black furred cat howled in pain and raced back to his own territory. The dark ginger she-cat felt satisfaction, but only for that moment because then she heard the sickening screech of another cat. She quickly turned around and saw her brother, Scorchpaw, lying on the ground with deep gashes in his flank and stomach.
"Scorchpaw!" Blazingpaw yowled, racing to her brother.
No. Blazingfire thought. It can't be!
She laid down beside him and looked into his eyes. "No, don't leave me, you're my only family."
"I'm sorry Blazingpaw, I'll tell mom and dad you miss them," he murmured and slowly closed his eyes.
"No!" Blazingpaw shouted. "You can't, you didn't, please come back!" Blazingpaw, still looking into his eyes, cried tears of pure bitterness.
A black she-cat padded to her side and sat down. "Blazingpaw, it wasn't your fault."
"Go away!" Blazingpaw snapped. "It was their fault! Why does StarClan have to be cruel."
Scorchpaw, I will avenge you. Blazingpaw vowed. Shadowclan will regret everything, they ever did to you and me. Something, anything, everything....
~*~*~*~*~*
Blazingfire woke with a start and panted. She shook her head to get rid of the nightmare, the last words still ringing in her mind: Something, anything, everything.
Ravenheart went up to the troubled ginger she-cat, and looked at her, her eyes full of worry for the dark ginger furred she-cat.
"Your brother again, isn't it?" The black she-cat meowed.
Blazingfire only nodded her head and took a squirrel from the fresh kill pile. "Want to share, Ravenheart?"
The black she-cat nodded and took a bite of the squirrel. "So, Blazingfire, when was the last one?"
"Dream?" Blazingfire asked. "Well one moon ago. It's getting better, but it's the same dream over and over again."
"I think you just need time he only di-" Ravenheart abruptly cut herself off. "He's only been gone for two moons. Once you move on the dreams will stop."
"Do you mean just forget about him!" Blazingfire hissed. "I thought I could trust you, but you sound just like every cat else in this forest!"
Blazingfire whipped around and went out of camp. The birds were chirping and she could faintly detect the scent of a mouse. She dipped her head in sadness and tried hunting, pin pointing a squirrel with accuracy.
A hunt might do me some good. She crouched onto her haunches and began stalking the brown tail bobbing up and down. If I can't get anyone to understand I might as well get unmeaningful praise for catching something for my clan.
