The brown and white she-cat bounded over the moor letting the air seep through her thin coat. It was finally green-leaf and she had just been made a warrior. Her former mentor Falconwing had assigned her a patrol at sunhigh and she happily accepted. All the cats behind her were running as well, but Lightbreeze left them in the dust without blinking her leaf green eyes twice.
My first patrol as a warrior! Lightbreeze slowed her pace. I better wait for the others or I'll lose them in the dust.
Willowpaw was the first that caught up with her and she was breathing heavily. The silver she-cat groomed her pelt, Lightbreeze noticed that after all the running it stuck up in odd places, but her own brown and white pelt was sleek if she had just groomed it. The silver tabby apprentice looked at Lightbreeze in awe.
"How do you do that!" Willowpaw squeaked, looking up from her grooming.
"How do I do what?" Lightbreeze asked, all she had done was out run them?
"How do you run so fast!" Willowpaw exclaimed. "By the time I turned around from chasing that rabbit, I couldn't even see you!"
"Well I guess I'm just a really fast Windclan cat!" Lightbreeze laughed, she hadn't put much thought, but she was always faster than her denmates. It was partially embarrassing from all the praise she received because of it.
The silver apprentice nodded and waited for the others her were panting fox lengths away.
"Lightbreeze we're supposed to be patrolling, not settling who's the fastest!" Snowclaw scolded, with a slight glimmer of humor in his eyes.
Lightbreeze nodded and continued the patrol along the border. Willowpaw's ears flicked and she sniffed the border. The silver tabby had a quizzical look on her face and turned to the warriors on the patrol
"I think I can hear fighting!" Willowpaw exclaimed.
"It's their own problem Willowpaw," Snowclaw said gently.
"But what if they bring it into Windclan territory?" Lightbreeze pointed out. "Riverclan and Windclan may be on good terms, but that doesn't exactly mean they won't".
"I'll tell you what," Snowclaw meowed. "We're done with the patrol, so when we get back I'll report it to Breezestar."
"Ok," Lightbreeze grumbled. Snowclaw always had to think he was right, but Lightbreeze went back to camp hesitantly without argument.
The three cats got back with a decent sized rabbit that a very proud Willowpaw. Lightbreeze praised the young apprentice for such a good catch and watched Snowclaw head over to Breezestar.
Lightbreeze headed to the nursery to check on Silvereyes' kits. They were two moons old and two pawful a of trouble.
I'm sure Silvereyes wouldn't mind me playing with such adorable kits! Lightbreeze looked at them. I'll check on Quietkit too while I'm at it.
"Lightbreeze!" All the kits squeaked.
"Hey Fawnkit, Lakekit, Quietkit, and Featherkit," Lightbreeze greeted, looking at the eager bundles of fur.
"Oh can we play that game we played yesterday?" Lakekit called out, she was the leader type one out of the group
"Yeah it was fun!" All the kits agreed nodding and looking at Lightbreeze expectantly. The brown and white she-cat couldn't resist their big pleading eyes.
"Oh alright," Lightbreeze agreed. "Grrrr! I'm a hungry badger and I'm going to eat all of you!"
"Fawnkit attack the badger from behind while I distract it!" Lakekit squeaked. Running behind Lightwind.
