Fake dating Cedric was getting easier and easier. I always ate with him in the Great Hall and was even becoming friends with some of his friends. Our touch became almost natural to each other, he would lay his hand above my knee and I'd put my hand over his. I will say though, Cedric's friends were nothing like my old friends. But it was fun to be part of a group. Of course, there were still moments I wanted to disappear.

"Hey," a voice startles me out of my thoughts as I make my way towards the Ravenclaw common room. I turn around and my heart immediately races. Jace. I've been avoiding him ever since my letters got out. "Can we talk now?" I give him a silent nod as we start to walk, keeping an awkward distance between us. "I can't believe you're dating Diggory," he grumbles.

"Why? Is it so unbelievable that someone could like me?" I ask, slightly offended.

"No, it's unbelievable that... you're like this sweet, innocent girl, and he's a complete dick! I just don't get it!"

"You know you make me sound really boring right, Jace? I'm not that innocent."

Jace scoffs, "Okay."

I narrow my eyes at the Gryffindor and begin to pick up my pace, "Okay! Well, great if that was the reason you wanted to talk to me then-"

"No! It's... I... Wait," Jace stutterers, making me slow down. "Look... Did you mean what you wrote in the letter?"

I pause and sigh, "I don't know, okay? It was a long time ago."

"Well, not for me, alright? This is all new, so like, I... I'm trying to understand here."

"There's nothing to understand. Look, it was a mistake, you should have never seen it." I began to nervously fiddle with my sleeves, not ready to have this conversation.

"I did see it! Alright? So... What am I supposed to do?"
"Not tell Margret?" I shrug.

"Margret's not even talking to me right now!" Jace exclaims. "You don't have to... worry about that."

I shake my head and try to walk away as we near my common room. "I'm sorry. Thanks, I..."

"That's it?" Jace asks angrily. "Margret dumps me, you're dating Diggory, and we can't even be friends anymore?"

"Jace, I don't know how to be friends with you like this!" I whip around and face him. "We can't go back to how it was before you and Margret were dating. We definitely can't go back to how it was when you and Margret were dating."

"If I had known I was gonna lose both of you like this I-"

"Stop," I cut. "Don't finish that sentence." I turn back around and reach the entrance to the tower.

"I just... You can't just ignore me!"

"We can't talk. Sorry..." I mutter the answer to the riddle and walk in, leaving Jace outside.

-------------------------------------------------------

"I'm sorry, isn't this character, Jack... like, kinda messed up?" Cedric asks. We were lying down in the Ravenclaw common room reading Lord of the Flies.
