"Who goes to a party on a school night?" I asked Alex, furrowing my brows. The ski resort was absolutely beautiful. It was a log style cabin with many separate rooms for everyone to sleep.
"Uh, lots of people do! It wasn't necessarily like a party, it was more of like a casual game night..." Alex explained.
"Mhmm," I hummed, rolling my eyes.
"They said, 'Fred, make sure everyone sleeps in their assigned rooms.' And I said, 'Overruled! Sleep where you want, sluts!'" Fred Weasley exclaims to the crowd around him as everyone cheers.
"They're the chaperones?" I whispered to Alex.
"See you on Serpent Point, Cedric?" Tiff chimes from above. "Last down the slope owes the other a fire whiskey." Cedric simply looks away from her and resumes his conversation with Fred.
"Go get your man," Alex sings, elbowing me.
"Are you kidding?" I coughed. "I can't go down Serpent Point. I don't even know how to put on the boots."
"If you're not gonna ski, what are you planning on doing all weekend?" Alex scoffs.
"I came prepared." I swing my backpack in front of my front and slowly start to pull out my favorite books. Pride and Prejudice. The Notebook. A Midsummer Night's Dream.
"Oh, no," Alex groaned. "That is a major backslide for you. Dean!"
"What's up?" Dean asks, approaching Alex.
""Can you help me convince LJ to come ski with us?"
"Yeah, right. You think I'm going skiing? It's cold outside, I don't do cold."
"Well, I have Korean face masks," I state. Dean immediately sides with me and Alex simply gives me a look of defeat.
-------------------------------------------------------
"So you guys have been faking it this entire time?" Dean asks as we pull off our face masks. We were sitting in my room, in our pyjamas, and had nachos ordered through room service. I broke a rule from the contract. I told someone.
"Yes," I groaned. "And you have to promise not to tell anyone, okay? It's just... I'm so confused. Just had to let it out."
"Look, I do not care about the genesis of it all. I just know the bloke likes you. I can tell by the way he looks at you."
"Okay, how does he look at me?"
"Like you're a sexy little golden snitch," Dean taunted, folding his towel. "He can't seem to catch you, but he's having a lot of fun trying."
I really wanted to believe Dean. But... "It doesn't matter, he's still so obsessed with Tiff, and I'm just another one of the stupid girls who fell for Diggory. It's embarrassing!"
"Look, every guy, you know, gets a bit obsessed with their first... you know... bow chicka wow wow..." I shake my head, confused. "Okay, let's look at the facts, shall we?" Dean states. "The whole fake relationship was his idea, you came up with the no-kissing rule, you're the one who keeps trying to break up with him, and you're also currently carb-loading with a gay man while he's probably waiting for you in the hot tub. So, I'd say if anyone stupidly fell for someone who doesn't like them back, it's not you. It's Diggory."
I pause for a moment, trying to take in all the words Dean had just said to me. "You think he's waiting for me in the hot tub?"
-------------------------------------------------------
Clad in my favorite red jacket over my nightgown, I carefully walked my way over to the hot tub. And there he was, in his swim trunks, sitting in the hot tub all by himself, was Cedric Diggory.
"All by yourself out here?" I spoke up. Cedric turns his head to look at me, says nothing, and turns back around to look at the water. "So what, you're ignoring me now?"
"Oh, I'm the one ignoring you? That's funny." I made my way over across from Cedric, and sat at the edge of the hot tub.
"Sorry I'm not a good skier, you didn't even offer to teach me," I tried to reason.
"Oh and I'm supposed to be sweet to you after you just don't sit with me on the bus ride up here?" he argues.
"Shouldn't you be thanking me," I sighed. "That you got to sit next to who actually wanted."
"You know for someone who has such good grades," Cedric says, shaking his head. "You can be so dense sometimes."
"What?"
"I wanted to sit next to you, Lexi Jade." Really? "I even packed us snacks. I asked Cat where to find those yogurt drinks you like so much."
"It's a muggle drink. You have to order it outside of the wizarding world."
"I know. So if I went out of my way to get you something that you like, then that means..."
"You must really like yogurt?" I mumbled.
Cedric scoffs and smiles, shoving water in my direction gently. "You are impossible."
I shift my body so my feet are able to dip into the steamy water, ever so slightly. "I'm sorry I didn't sit next to you."
"It's alright." After a few moments of silence between us, I hesitantly take off my coat and slowly sink into the hot tub. "You're coming in? In your nightgown?"
"I didn't bring a bathing suit," I said, making my way closer to Cedric until we are face to face. "Hi."
Cedric suddenly pulls me into his lap, I respond by wrapping my arms around his neck. "There's no one like you, Abbey." And with those words, his lips meet mine. Our lips move together in passion, trying to savour the taste of each other forever. This kiss was different from our others. Different from our 1 second kiss in spin the bottle. Different from when I kissed him because I saw Jace. Different from when he kissed me in front of his quidditch team. This kiss was pure bliss, it meant something. There were feelings behind it. We pull away just for a second to look at each other. "What?"
"Nothing," I whisper, before locking lips with him again.
-------------------------------------------------------
I went back to my room, not without bidding Cedric and kissing him goodnight, content with my life.
